So I understood my restlessness in life, when I reached the airport on Saturday, 12th sep to catch a flight to Bangkok. I realised that being at the airport gives me such inexplicable high and my itchy feet were relaxed yet excited about this trip. It was a planned bachelorette for our friend but three of us decided to start three days earlier and explore the other side of Thailand.I landed in Bangkok on Sunday morning. To reach saphaepai hostel on surasak rd, Silom I changed three trains (airport rail link- Phaya Thai - siam - Surasak rd). It is time taking but a comfortable ride. Our hostel was located in a good locality and highly recommended for people who don't mind a good interaction with fellow travelers. Saphaepai hostel is almost like a hotel, which has all possible facilities which you will not expect in any hostel.
Clean rooms/washrooms, friendly staff, decent food (veg.Food available on request) and good beer (singha!!) Art installation Hostel corridors Traveler's board Vegetable Thai fried riceSince ,my other two friends were reaching late evening, I decided to cast around and ended up at the Grand palace of Bangkok. As the name suggests, it was remarkably grand indeed! The palace belongs to the royal family of the kings of Siam.
Wat phra , the temple of emerald Buddha Phra maha prasatPhra thinang chakri maha prasat, blend of Thai traditional architecture and a combination of European styles Wall mural Standing around these structures, spellbound, I had an irresistible urge to capture every possible angle.
There is no doubt, the place is a Mecca for photographers.City stroll Typical Thai umbrella Soi (street) silpakorn vibrant cabs of Bangkok Tuk tuk street graffiti A trip to Thailand is definitely incomplete if you don't pay a visit to the 'not so famous' countryside , a small town of Kanchanaburi, three hours away west of Bangkok. It's a pretty little town with a perfect blend of history and nature!
Sam's guesthouse, Kanchanaburi cycling around the town Bridge over river kwai River Kwai At the jeath war museum There are lot of national parks few kms away from the town. We chose Erawan national park, 65kms away, which is well connected by public transport. There are camping and lodging options as well at the national park. Erawan waterfalls: There are seven levels of the fall, its a easy trek through the jungle with a picturesque view. Final destination - Phiphi islandWe reached Krabi via one hour flight from Bangkok and a two hours ferry ride to Phiphi. It is a beautiful island with a relaxed environment. A perfect place away from the bustling city of Bangkok.
