According to senior state government officials, preparations for the upcoming Mahakumbh religious fair in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, are in full swing as the government works towards completing over 47 permanent and temporary projects in the region.
The state government of Uttar Pradesh has expedited the development and beautification works planned for the city, despite the fair being months away. The focus is on revamping various tourist attractions in Prayagraj. An estimated ₹15.42 crore has been allocated for the beautification of Bhardwaj Ashram's entrance gate, corridor development, and other beautification projects, as per an official statement on Saturday.
In addition, a proposed budget of ₹13.50 crore has been set aside to enhance the 12 Dwadash Madhav temples. The Nagavasuki temple will receive ₹5.23 crore, the Dashashwamedh temple ₹2.83 crore, the Mankameshwar temple ₹6.67 crores, the Alopshankari Temple ₹7 crore, the Padilla Mahadev Temple ₹10 crores, the temples under the Panchkosi Parikrama Path ₹5 crores, the Koteshwar Mahadev temple ₹1.5 crores, and ₹1 crore for the development of Kalyani Devi.
Moreover, an amount of ₹4.60 crore has been allocated for the development of temples in the Karachhana area. Several projects, including corridor development for the Akshayvat/Saraswatikoop/Patalpuri temple, will be carried out at a cost of ₹18.5 crore.
Before Mahakumbh-2025, over ten facade-related works are scheduled to take place, with an estimated expenditure exceeding ₹18 crore. Renovation activities are also planned for various temples, educational institutions, and other places of worship.
The government's proactive approach to completing these projects aims to ensure that Prayagraj is fully prepared to host the grand Mahakumbh religious fair.
