Out of the 12 Jyotirlingas present in India, the Somnath Shivlinga is considered to be the first one of all. The present temple, 7th reconstruction of the site, is built in Chaulukya style of Hindu architecture and was completed in 1951.
The mesmerizing view of Arabian sea on the side of the temple aggrandize the beauty of the place.

Darshan are open through out the day, so no worries.
I would recommend to choose the guest houses near the temple, for staying. Those are well maintained ones and the price is also not high. Also try to attend the Maha-Arti at 12noon or 7pm if you are there !!
You can explore other tourist spots which are not far from the temple. Take the cheap autorickshaw rides for the same.
Give a treat to your eyes by watching the sunset from the beach (near temple area)

Baan stambh, arrow pillar, is a structure built in the temple premises which has an arrow pointing towards south direction. The temple and specially the arrow is situated at such a location which tells that there is no land mass between it and south pole until Antarctica.
