The sanctuary is named after the Churdhar Peak. Churdhar hight aprox (11,965 feet) is the highest peak in Shimla district and is also the highest peak in the outer Himalayas. The peak has a great religious significance for the people of Sirmour, Shimla, Chaupal and Solan of Himachal Pradesh and Dehradun of Uttrakhand. Churdhar is a holy place related with Shri Shirgul Maharaj (Chureshwar Maharaj), a deity widely worshipped in Sirmour and Chaupal.

The place can be approached by lots of routes but the main routes are from Nohradhar, Sirmour of 14 km and Sarahan, Chaupal of 8 km & Iβm sharing the route from Nohradhar best route ever, especially for trekking lover and sharing my experience that how I was going to Churdhar & stay.
Chandigarh β Solan β Nohradhar.
Early start from Chandigarh (43 bus stand) after breakfast & pick up the to Solan at 10AM.
Enjoy the views of nature & Mountains.
Reach Solan before 1PM becouse the last bus to Nohradhar from Solan time is 1PM (if you missed the last bus of Nohradhar, pick the next bus to Rajgarh stay at Rajgarh in the cottage or hotel at same rent 400-500 per night & next day pick the bus to Nohradhar from rajgarh bus stand at morning 6AM & reach Nohradhar at 8AM, Take and pack some food and start the trek at 9AM).
Pick the bus & head to Nohradhar & enjoy the beautiful journey.
Reach Nohradhar at 7PM.
When you reach at the Nohradhar bus stand there is a hotel name Chureshwar Mahadev on the starting point of Churdhar trek at great price 1Night rent aprox 400-500 per 2 person with hot water.
Take rest after dinner.
Early start from Nohradhar at 9AM for trek.
Before started the trek must visit any dhaba & pack some food like Paratha, biscuit etc.
Buy some water bottles rain coat & torch.
Start the trek at 9AM, trek is aprox 14KM.
Reach the first point at 12PM-1PM where dhaba is available (according to season β April to july)
Take some rest and head to the second point.
Enjoy the vibes of a forest.
Head to the second point at 3PM-4PM.
Take some food and again head to the churdhar peak.
After the second point trek is converted into two ways.
First is simply straight to the temple of Shirigul Maharaj.(if you want to choose this way reach Temple and explore the peak)
Second is going through the trek up to an altitude of 12,000 feet. This trek is going to the statue of Lord Shiva. (While rain and sleepy season mostly donβt take this route & You can choose this type when you start your trek at 3-4PM from second point)
Reach the statue of Lard Shiva and enjoy the views of Mountain.
After that visit to the temple of Shrigul Mahadev.
Stay in the dharamshala at no cost.
Buy some blankets for night stay (3/Blankets for 1/Person).
Take the food at 8PM to 10PM at temple hallβs.
After dinner enjoy the views of stars & back to sleep (In the hall charging is available)
Wake up in the morning at 5AM if you want to see the best sunrise of your life ever.
Walk around the peak after breakfast and go to the temple.
Feel the vibes of scenic Mountains.
After visit in the temple ready for head back to Nohradhar.
Start your trek at 9AM-10AM from the simply way if you already had visit to the statue of Lord Shiva.
Choose the simple way to reach last dhaba point.
Enjoy the trek and the smoky mountains with the trees of devdhar.
Reach Nohradhar at 1PM-2PM.
Take some food at dhaba & wait for a bus to Solan.
The bus timing of Nohradhar to Solan is every half & one hour.
Take a bus and visit Solan it is aprox 5 hours distance around 75KM
Reached Solan bus stand at 6PM.
Take a bus to Chandigarh from Solan Bus stand.
Head back to Chandigarh take dinner & stay.
