Auli is a beautiful Hill station located in the Chamoli District of Uttarakhand. To reach Auli you need to first reach Joshimath which is only accessible by road. Joshimath is around 280kms from Dehradun which is the nearest Airport from Joshimath. Nearest attractions in Auli are: Tapovan Hot water spring, Devaprayag, Valley of Flowers,

Day 1

How We Reached:

Left early in the morning from Mumbai for Dehradun.

After reaching Dehradun we immediately left for Joshimath in a private taxi enjoying the scenic views with few chai and lunch break.

Stopped at few places as the authorities were clearing the rocks fallen from land slides then continued our journey to Joshimath which took us more than 10 hours from Dehradun.

Checked in at The Tattva Resort late in the night.

Day 2

After having breakfast we headed to the rope-way station which was around 800 mtrs from our hotel. Fare for the rope-way is 1000 rupees which includes the return fare even if you are going to stay in Auli.

From start to end of the rope-way journey all you are going to see is snow and giant mountains on your left, where on the right you are going to see beautiful forests.

After reaching Auli we headed to our hotel The Cliff Top Club which around 10 mins away from the rope-way tower.

In late afternoon we went to the Auli Lake which was completely covered in snow, took some pictures and enjoyed the evening with heavy snowfall.

Day 3

Now this was the most exciting and adventurous day of my life.

The first thing I saw after I woke up was Snowfall. At first we thought we might not be able to do what we were gonna do but destiny takes you where you belong.

After having a decent breakfast we went to a local adventure sports shop/vendor just outside our Hotel and asked him if we can do Skiing in this heavy snowfall. The guide told yes you can absolutely do skiing and he took approx Rs.900 per person with skiing costume and little bit training included.

We learned skiing in heavy snowfall which was really really difficult as there was windy snowfall.

Later the snowfall was stopped for an hour and we had ball of a time skiing in fresh powdered snow.

It was the most amazing experience of my life.

Day 4

This was the most difficult part of a trip, Going back. After having breakfast we check out from the hotel and headed towards rope-way tower and it was the most challenging part of whole trip as there around 2-3 feet of snow everywhere in Auli. When I first stepped into the snow my leg was covered with snow up to the knees. That I realized I should have brought Good quality snow shoes. The one which I had was rented and it was just a waterproof high ankle boots. Somehow we managed to get to the rope-way tower. My legs were completely frozen. Then we headed to Joshimath and from there we left for Rishikesh.

Note: Please buy good quality Snow boots if you are planning a trip to Auli in winters. And one more thing I wanna say, please keep in mind that you won't get best food in this entire trip and the reason is obvious, Less Connectivity to the urban cities.
