That Indian girl in Turkey..

I always wondered how things would be the other way around in my profession. So, when I came across an ad on Airbnb for booking a professional photoshoot on the Turkey trip I had planned, I was instantly tempted.

I checked photographer's work. She seemed very good with her composition and lighting sense and her charges were reasonable too.So without any hesitation, I booked a photo shoot for myself.

When the photographer asked me what kind of a photoshoot I was wishing for.. I was completely clueless. The only thing I knew was that my travel wardrobe was full of western clothes…. so to make this experience unique, guess what did I decide?

Yes, A traditional Indian Sari on the streets of  Istanbul!!

Idea was a bit Crazy!! But there was not a single reason that could have stopped me..

I chose my mother's very pretty  Maharashtrian style Irkal Saree for the shoot..as it was super lightweight to carry and it perfectly  contrasted with the landscape of Istanbul.

(Yes, you do have to think about all these aspects when one has a photoshoot or vice versa 😅..)

On  the day of the shoot it wasn't possible to go back to our hotel to change because our schedule was completely packed and roaming around the entire day in a saari was nearly impossible. So I changed in public washroom...there were few angry looks and some gave me a nice smile and some were just confused about what exactly I was doing in there..

A photoshoot requires make up... which was again a big task but I groomed myself with the help of  my friends (they literally applied Liner in the park) and i was all set for the shoot with my small crew of 2 friends and a photographer.

First time in my life I dedicated entire 1 hour just to click my photographs... My nervousness was at the peak..

Many foreigners came up to me and asked  me if they could have one picture with me..and some literally waited till I finished my shot.. suddenly I got the feeling of being a celebrity ..😋

I decided to be myself instead of pretending to be a model.. that gave me the courage to pull myself confidently in front of the camera.

Entire photo shoot experience was pretty exciting and I enjoyed it immensely..

I definitely recommend to all of you out there ... you all should really have to have this experience of photoshoot at least once in your lifetime...

1 thing is for sure after some years when I see these photographs, it is going to put a big wide smile on my face..☺️ and I will proudly say ….'Yes ,that Indian girl who draped a saree in Turkey and nailed it in the most unique way!!'
