Marsimik La is a high mountain pass in northern India’s Jammu and Kashmir state, lying at the height of 5.590m (18,339ft) above sea level. It is one of the country’s highest mountain roads. You cannot pass up the opportunity to drive through it while in Ladakh since it will be one of the highlights of your vacation to the region.

The route to the top, also known as Marsimek La, is located in the Chang-Chemno Range and is only accessible by 4WD with a qualified driver. In addition, the route up is only partially paved.

The gravel road quickly turns to dust and eventually to debris, and this is where you must exercise extreme caution. Sonam Paljore, an Everest, oversaw the construction of the Marsimek La trail in 1983. There’s also a tiny temple named “Chak Mandir” with a statue of Lord Shiva.

There is also the option to see China’s six-lane motorway, which stretches to the India-China border in Ladakh. The great height of the pass enhances the vistas from here, and driving here is an unforgettable experience.
