I've booked my flight from Visakhapatnam(VTZ), India to Kuala Lumpur(KLIA2), Malaysia through AirAsia for Rs.3000/- Return flight costed me Rs.2500. Malaysian visa for 15days costs ( 20USD ~ Rs.1350 ) ENTRI for Indians.
Arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport on 31st May at about 4:30am and proceeded to the Immigration. I have been to a lot of Network Carrier Stores to get the best SimCard with a great plan that satisfies my needs throughout my journey in Malaysia. I got Celcom Simcard with a 25GB data plan and calls to India charged at 12cents/min, for 40RM that is nearly Rs.616. Later I went to level-1 and got the bus ticket from KLIA2 to KLSentral (12RM ~ Rs.185)
After a Journey of about an Hour through the wide roads filled with greenery all around, I have arrived at KL Sentral. I waited for sometime till the ETS ticket counter is opened and pre booked ticket from KL Sentral to Butterworth,Penang (79RM ~ Rs.1217)
I got into LRT(Light Rail) from KL Sentral to Pasar Seni (1.6RM ~ Rs.25). From there I walked down to Petaling Street to reach my hotel that I've booked to stay for two days in Kuala Lumpur. I stayed in Amigo Hotel which is super awesome and affordable. A bed in a 4bed Air-Conditioned dorm costed me around 36RM per night that is Rs.555/night.
So roaming around in Kuala Lumpur almost costs you nothing. You can get a decent lunch or dinner for 6RM or 7RM that is about Rs.100/-
Arrived Penang
Arrived Butterworth, Penang after a 4 hour pleasant ride in ETS, I walked down to the Butterworth Jetty and paid (1.6RM ~ Rs.25) to go to GeorgeTown, Penang. When u take a jetty back to the mainland they wont charge you anything.
Travelling in Penang
I stayed in Penang for about 4 days made so many friends there, it's a great place known for Street Art, Sea Food, Ice Kacang.
I hired a bicycle in George Town to just travel within the city and explore the street art.
I've covered Penang National Park, Kek Lok Si Temple, Batu Ferringhi, Monkey Beach, Turtle Beach, etc.., during the stay in Penang for 4 days.
Penang to Langkawi via Kuala Perlis
I started my Journey towards Langkawi via Kuala Perlis, instead of taking a direct Jetty from Penang to Langkawi. After about 5-6Hr journey from George Town, I've reached Kuala Perlis Jetty, where I've to wait for about an hour to take a 1.5hr boat ride to reach Langkawi.
Upon reaching the Langkawi Jetty Terminal, I got out of the terminal and hired a cab to reach my hotel, which is near the Pantai Chenang Beach.
Travelling in Langkawi
I hired a bike in Langkawi for 3 days and per day I paid 25RM for the bike, petrol is cheap in Malaysia, so in the end petrol costs didn't exceed 20RM for 3days and covered the whole island.
The best part of travelling in Langkawi is going uphill in the World's steepest sky cab, Boat ride in Andaman Sea (Mangrove Forest), Chilling by the shore in the evening, fun parties at the hostel every night.
After a short flight from Langkawi, I have reached KLIA. I took a bus ride from KLIA to KL Sentral and a short Metro ride to reach Pasar Seni. I started using courchsurfing for the first time and I met some awesome people in the night, near KLCC.
Couchsurfing | City Tour, Kuala Lumpur
One of the couchsurfer offered me a city tour. She took me to Putrajaya mosque and some places around the city. Almost covered the whole city in a day in her car. She's so generous and kind.
Last day at Kuala Lumpur
Finally, after about 14days of solo travelling in Malaysia, the time has come to say GoodBye to Malaysia. It was quite an Adventure for me. I fell in love with the beaches and hills of Malaysia, maybe because it was my first International trip and that too solo trip.
I've enjoyed each and every part of my journey and it was quite cheap, compared to travelling in India.
