Nongriat village near Cherrapunji is famous for this Double Decker Root Bridge. There are many single root bridges in this area but this is the only one that has two levels.
What I absolutely love about this village is how beautiful and clean it is. It makes me happy that the people who stay in this village have such high regards for the environment. We were staying in this homestay called Serene Homestay and the Double Decker Root Bridge is just 2 minutes walk from the homestay.
There are waterfalls and natural swimming pools & the mysterious sounds of the forest. The path to the Double Decker Root Bridge is about 3 km long and has approximately 3500 stairs. The trek starts from Tryna village around 30 mins past Cherrapunjee. The trek till here is sure long and tiring but it’s totally worth it.
