The video was shared by Go Arunachal Pradesh with the caption "Have you ever seen this Flying boat in India? Meghalaya."

The state of Meghalaya is indeed a haven for nature lovers, with its pine-covered forests, lush green beauty and endless expanse of gorgeous forests. It is also home to the cleanest village in India, Mawlyngong. Moreover, the river featured in the video is also one of the clearest rivers in India, which makes the boats here appear to float in the air! With water oh-so-clean and transparent, the Umngot River, also known as the Dawki River, is indeed a sight to behold.

The river is a breathtaking sight, with its crystal clear waters providing an unobstructed view of the bottom. Boats are lined up along the edge and in the water, giving them an almost ethereal look due to how clearly visible they are. Anyone can take a swim or go on a boat tour and explore the diverse marine life as well as admire the lush green forests that border Bangladesh. It truly is an idyllic place for nature lovers to enjoy.

How to reach Dawki:

For those wanting to explore the hidden beauty of Dawki, hop on a bus or rent a car and take the stunning drive through rural Meghalaya. Along this journey, you'll be surrounded by lush forests, cascading waterfalls and plenty of opportunities for incredible photographs! Alternatively, if flying is more your style, then head to Guwahati airport or train station – it's only 90 kilometres from Shillong where many visitors choose to stay.

Best time to visit:

The most optimal time for sightseeing in Meghalaya is from the start of the year until May. During this period, the natural environment appears particularly vibrant and the climate is pleasant. However, river crossings are often impeded by high water levels during monsoon season.

Things to do in Dawki:

If you're in Dawki, here are a few things you should try!

Jump off the cliff in the Dawki river

Boating on this river is a great way to enjoy its beauty, but why not take the experience one step further by jumping off of one of the tall cliffs into crystal-clear waters? Make sure you have a good quality life jacket and securely fasten it before taking the leap. This thrilling activity will give you an adrenaline rush like no other and leave you with long-lasting memories!

Get the best of both worlds at the Indo-Bangladesh border

The riverbank at the Indo-Bangladesh border is a sight to behold! No walls or gates separate the two countries, just a board that reads “the other half is Bangladesh”. Here, you can literally have one foot in India and another in Bangladesh - how cool is that? The bank of the river is full of pebbles and vendors line up near the entry gate. Don't forget to try some local Bangladeshi fruits while you're there - they accept Indian currency too!

Trek to the Krang Shuri Waterfalls

Pack your bags and drive to the lush green hills of Dawki, just 30 km away! Stop at a local café for some hot Maggi, omelette and tea/coffee before you embark on an adventurous 15-minute trek. You will be rewarded when you reach Krang Shuri Waterfalls – dive in its turquoise waters or take a leap off the cliffs for an unforgettable experience!

If you're looking for a unique way to get an amazing view of Bangladesh, head over to Mawlynnong and take a stroll on its famous Sky Walk. This bamboo structure is quite narrow and steep, so it's best if only 4-5 people go up in line at the same time. Climb your way to the top and be rewarded with breathtaking views!
