Have you been to Mannavanur lake?

This lake is located about 34 km away from Kodaikanal and is little more than an hour’s drive. The road was covered by mist and pine trees. As we passed across those trees, lush greenery greeted us at Mannavanur.

Before reaching the lake there are sheep and rabbit farms. You can see different types of rabbits here. As Tinni (our 5 months old daughter) was with us, we avoided to get into those farms and preferred to walk ahead. Once we crossed both the farms, we get into an widespread grassland with lovely mountains and forests in the backdrop. From here we were able to see a breathtaking view of the heart shaped Mannavanur lake. If you want to be amidst nature and do not want to be disturbed by people this is the place for you.

From here we went to the main gate of Mannavanur lake. It was like a park where after buying tickets we had to trek for around 10 -15 minutes to reach the lake. You can have horse riding, coracle boating and ofcourse enjoying the scenic beauty. Once we reached the lake, Tinni was in a playful mood and his father started roming around carrying her in the Kangaroo bag while I was busy in clicking. Later on, we spent a good amount of time just sitting on an wooden bench beside the lake and listening the music of the water.

A must visit place for anyone who want to breathe in the fresh air and bask in the serenity of the green surroundings while enjoying the views of Lake Mannavanur as well as sheeps baa-iing in the distance.
