Haridwar is a holy town situated on the banks of River Ganga. Haridwar is also known as Hardwar, now the meaning of “Haridwar” is “Gateway to Lord Vishnu ji” and the meaning of “Hardwar” is “Gateway to Lord Shiv ji”.

We started our journey from Gwalior, and we were in a group of 10 people. We took a train to Haridwar from Gwalior and it usually takes 15 to 16 hours to cover that distance. We reach Haridwar on 15th of December at 11:00PM and we checked into hotel and takes rest because all of us were tired due to the long journey. Next day means on 16th of December we went for Ganga Snan at 7:00AM. Then we took a dip at Har ki Pauri Ghat which claims to be the holiest ghat on Haridwar and it is the place where Ganga comes down from the mountain to the lands, Har ki Pauri means “Steps of Lord Shiva”. After taking the bath we went to have some breakfast at Panditji Poori Wale. After finishing breakfast we went back to the hotel and to freshen up. At 11:00AM we all were ready to explore the Haridwar City, at first we went to Mansa Devi Temple and we did not booked ropeway at Mansa Devi Temple , we reached Mansa Devi Temple by walking, when you will reach Mansa Devi Temple shopkeepers will force you to remove their slippers/shoes at their shops so that you can buy flowers and Prasad from their shops, but if you don’t want to buy flowers and Prasad then you can enter the temple and inside the temple preparation for keeping slippers/shoes is available. After Mansa Devi Temple we went to Chandi Devi Temple, at Chandi Devi Temple we booked ropeway and the system of keeping shoes/slippers is as same as it was in Mansa Devi Temple. After Chandi Devi Temple we went back to the hotel and had dinner.

Next day, on 7th of January, we took a bus from Haridwar to Rishikesh at 10:00AM in the morning , bus fare was Rs 40 per head. We reached Rishikesh after one hour that is 11:00AM. We have not explored Rishikesh that deeply but we covered the main attraction of Rishikesh. We booked an auto for the visit of the major attraction it took around 90 rupees per head. First we reached Triveni Ghat and sat there for 30 to 40 minutes. After Triveni Ghat er moved to Shri Bharat Mandir the holy temple. After that we moved to Lakshman Jhula and we sat at the banks of River Ganga for almost one hour, then we visited Lakshman Jhula and Ram Jhula. After this we moved to Triveni Ghat again for Ganga Aarti and it is a worth to see. After all this we took a bus from Rishikesh to Haridwar and get back to our room at around 11:30PM.
