8. Merlion Park - Spoiler Alert!! The much-seen symbol of Singapore - the Merlion statue might disappoint you a little. But it's still worth a visit for the mandatory Marina Bay backdrop selfie.
1. Merlion statue, park and Marina Bay - Around 8.5 meter tall water sprouting Merlion statue is main attraction of this park. It is guard of Marine Bay. This statue is Singapore's city Icon having Lion head and fish body. Mer means sea, Lion - Singa represents Lion city Singapura and fish represents local history. All most every tourist will have a picture with this statue. This gives views of Singapore flyer, the Esplanade, Art science Museum and Marine Bay Sands building.
Half-fish and half-lion, the iconic Merlion resides at the waterfront Merlion Park. you can glimpse this legend spouting water from its mouth, the statue stands tall at 8.6 metres and weighs 70 tonnes.
I then walked towards the Merilion Park (approx. 15 mins), which is a major tourist attraction. I was even lucky enough to catch the light and sound show at 8:00 PM. I was not alone in this 2,500 square meter park but taking in the whole Marina Bay Area is fantastic at night- the skyline, Fullerton, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore Flyer and the Esplanade Theaters is simply captivating!
