It is said that Pune is a city that you will instantly fall in love with. It has the amenities of a metropolitan, but the simplicity of a small town. An integral part of the Maratha history, Pune is very rich, both culturally and historically, making it one of the best city-vacations in India. Tourists from all over the country flock to this little green town which is considered a little paradise tucked in the hills of south-west India. So here's a list of things charted out perfectly so that you have the best time in the Queen of the Deccan.

This fort is at the heart of many folklores of the Maratha dynasty. Built in 1732, Shaniwarwad was home to the second Peshwa, Bajirao I. Although, most of the fort was destroyed during an unexplained fire that struck the fort in 1828, it is a major point of attraction for its grand appearance and magnificent gardens. It is also widely acknowledged as haunted, and hence, vsitors from all over the country come to experience its mysterious vibe. At the fort, you will also be able to spot the few shots that were depicted in Bajirao Mastani, so walk along its paved paths and feel like the powerful Bajirao yourself!

About 125-years old, this extremely famous temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. In case you’re in Pune around the time of Ganesh Chaturthi, Dagdusheth is a must visit for its vibrance and festivity. The idol inside the temple is 7.5 feet tall and is adorned with a whopping 40 kgs of gold, making it a sight to behold. This is the perfect place to make your grandparents happy, in case you’re on a family vacation!
