Day 1

The period from October to February is usually considered one of the best seasons to visit Rajasthan and the state is seen bustling with tourists, both local and international. So i decided to check off the beautiful pink city of India from my bucket-list this December and some meticulous planning meant that i was able to visit a major portion of the city in just 2 days!! So if you are also budget timing your visit to the city but at the same time do not want to miss on anything, read on to plan your own 48 hour itinerary!!

Day One: My first major stop that day was the stunning City Palace of Jaipur. I paid an entry ticket of Rs 130 and the ticket prices differ for students and foreign students.

ProTip: If you are a foreign or an Indian student, do not forget to carry your ID card for buying tickets at all major tourist spots as the student prices are way cheaper than regular tickets!!

You can easily spend an hour or so admiring the city palace and reading about its history.

After this, you can book yourself an E-Rickshaw outside the City Palace which will take you around 4-5 major tourist spots which are within walking distance from the City Palace!

So, the best stops to cover are the the iconic Jantar Mantar of Jaipur, the Hawa Mahal, the Bapu Bazaar Market, the Johari Bazaar Market and end your afternoon sojourn with a traditional Rajasthani Lunch at Laxmi Misthan Bhandar.

The next leg of the Day one tour then begins with the first stop being the tranquil Jal Mahal situated in the Man Sagar Lake. Take some quick photos for the Instagram and sip some fresh coconut water before you make your way for some historical forts.

The first stop would then be Jaigarh Fort followed by Nahargarh Fort which is 10 minutes ahead of Jaigarh Fort. Do keep in mind that the road to the forts is very well built but it is steep in some places and is in a hilly terrain! Soak in the vastness of these historical forts, learn about the worlds largest Canon at Jaigarh Fort and witness whole of Jaipur from the top at sunset from the Nahargarh Fort.

Drive back to the city by evening and end your day with a wholesome dinner at The Tattoo Cafe, Masala Chowk or Rawat Misthan Bhandar.

Day 2

Day Two: Ahhh! When in Jaipur, your day needs to start with a palace visit to channel the inner royal in you! Make way for the grand Amer Palace Fort right in the morning as this place will take at-least 2 hours of your time. You can either walk the steps all the way to the top (approximately 500 steps! Take this route if you want to take some epic shots of the palace), or you can do an elephant ride all the way to the top (costs around Rs 1100 for 2 people) or you can book a jeep ride to the top or better, if you have your own mode of transport, you can follow the jeeps all the way to the back of the fort where you can reach the top of the fort by driving your own vehicle).

After admiring the beauty of the Palace, make way for the beautiful Patrika Gate and Jawahar garden and click some Insta worthy shots while at the same time enjoying the local street food stalls present at the place. It is the time to visit the gorgeous Birla Temple and by this time, your stomach would need some attention too, so head to Tapri, the Tea cafe for an epic rooftop lunch.

The sun is now about to set in some time and it is now time to relax in the lush green spaces the city has to offer. Make your way to the famous Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh and Vidyadhar Bagh which are located adjacent to each other and then end your exploration by visiting the Albert Hall Museum.

ProTip: Most of the major tourist spots close entry for tourists by 5 or 6 in the evening, so i would highly recommend starting early in the morning and leaving shopping and food exploring in the evening when the major tourist attractions shut down.
