Day 1

On 30th September 2021 at 11.30 AM we leaved Auroville, Pondicherry for Vellore. (distance is approx. 150Km) On the way we had lunch and reached Vellore at 3.30 PM. Checked in hotel Temple Tower and after taking bath went to Sri Laxmi Narayani Golden Temple Sripuram. Temple is 10 km away from Vellore city and is just 5 minutes walking distance from our hotel Temple Tower. We went at 5 PM and free darshan timing is 7 PM onwards, we had to buy entry tickets at Rs.100/- per head. Footwear stand charges Rs.3/- per pair and Rs.10/- for mobile. Mobile and camera strictly not allowed inside the temple complex.

Golden Temple - Sripuram is located on 100 acres of land and has been constructed by the Vellore-based charitable trust, Sri Narayani Peedam, headed by its spiritual leader Sri Sakthi Amma, known as ‘Narayani Amma’. Temple has ardha mandapam and vimanam coated with 1500 kg pure gold (used 8-10 layers of gold foil). The intricate work of the temple done by artists who are special in temple art using gold. Every single detail in the temple art has significance from the vedas. When we entered the temple complex it was a evening time, the sun is about to set and the reflection of sunrays on the gold tower was looking so dazzling that I can not state in words. One must experience it. It is a sight to behold. I recommend to visit temple in the evening to experience dazzling glow and wait till lighting is on. As the beauty of the temple enhances during sunset and we can experience both the beauties.

Devotees from all religions and backgrounds are welcome to visit in Golden Temple Vellore. The chief deity of the temple is Sri Mahalaxmi. Temple's design features a star-shaped path i.e. Sri chakra, positioned in the middle of the lush green landscape, with a length about 1.8 km. As one walks along this 'starpath' to reach the main temple, on the way, one can read various spiritual messages. There are many shops on the starpath. While walking through this starpath first we visit and take darshan of Shri Ganesha. Ganesh idol is made up of 1700 kg silver. It's a fabulous idol. Then we go main temple to Sri Laxmi Narayani darshan, the temple is situated in a pond. ( Surrounded by water by all sides, I think this might be for security measures). Overall temple is super maintained. Taking darshan Shri Ganesha and Sri Laxmi is a great devine experience. After darshan of Sri Laxmi Narayani, on the front side, there is a Small golden idol of Swarn Laxmi, made up of 70 kg pure gold. One can abhishek the Swarn Laxmi idol by own hand. But the devotees who paid for entry, can only enter this temple and get Sri Laxmi photo and tirtham. We baught prasadam laddu at Rs. 50 for 2 pieces.

It is a must visit place. We spent almost 2 hours over there. Outside the temple there are streat sellers who are selling clothes with a very cheap rates. We did some purchasing over there and back to hotel Temple Tower after dining.
