Loei is a western province in Thailand and is known for its diversity: of people, terrains, and even temperatures! The province can fluctuate quite easily, and it’s one of the only provinces to reach below 0°C (32F), in the winter.
When in Thailand, go beyond the beach trips and scenic cruises and experience nature at its finest. Go on a hike to Phu Thok Mountain in Loei province and see the magical fog surrounding the scenic mountain. The 359 meter (1,177 foot) mountain is absolutely stunning at sunrise.
The best time to go on this hike is early morning before sunrise around 5:30 AM to 6:00 AM where you will get to see Thailand rise and shine as the sun winks at you while staring at the gorgeous mountain view.
It's the perfect spot to have a picnic. Many travelers and nature lovers enjoy these stunning views of the Mekong river and the misty mountain ,this is the best reward of the moderate one hour hike.
Traveling to an organic rain fed cotton farm. This was an authentic rural experience with local weavers who work for the social enterprise FOLK CHARM.
Picking up fluffy natural rain fed cotton which is grown without any chemicals and pesticides. Connecting with mother earth in her most natural form:)
This is Lady Jayor, she has fought many local prejudices for being a lady boy but she has emerged beyond what people say and is empowered by FOLK CHARM. She weaves for the social enterprise using only eco friendly dyes.
This is the landscape of Loei. So untouched, so pristine!
Picnic by a waterfall with local food. This is my expression after eating lunch in this location.
Trekking through a bamboo forest. Did you know that bamboo is very commonly grown in Thailand and its a sustainable crop? My toothbrush is made from bamboo.
Teaching yoga to a group of Thai students. Travel is about sharing cultural experiences and stories, right?
When you're visiting Thailand next, make sure you visit Loei and you won't be disappointed!
