Ranakpur is a small village located in the Aravalli range, derives its name from Rana Khumba. It is said that Rana Khumba gave the land for the construction of the Jain temples in the region, when a businessman named Dharna Shah approached him and told him about his vision of a great temple.
Ranakpur is famous for its Jain Temple. Situated 91 km from Udaipur in the state of Rajasthan. Located in a valley on the western side of Aravalli Range. A 2 hours 30 minutes drive from Udaipur will take you to Ranakpur. Constructed in the 15th Century. The temple, made of marble, is an architectural marvel. It is designed as 'Chaumukha ’ - with four faces. The stone carving work of Ranakpur, in my opinion, is more attractive than that of Dilwara.
