One of world's tallest Statue of Lord Hanuman

Due to its location on the highest point (2,455 m above sea level) of Shimla, it offers sweeping views of the Shivalik ranges and one can see the magnificent view of Lord Hanumanji's statue from anywhere in Shimla.

Legend has it that Lord Hanuman stopped here in his quest for the Sanjeevani plant, which was the herb needed to cure Lord Lakshmana as he was injured in the battle against Ravana. Devotees from all over the country come here, especially at the time of Dussehra festival celebrations.

How to reach:- There are numerous modes to reach this temple, tourists can opt according to their convenience.

1) By Cabs:- The temple is well connected by road to Shimla. The private cabs are somewhat costly if you are travelling alone, so it is economical to hire shared taxis which are available from the Ridge.

2)By Cable Car:– This is the fastest way to reach the temple, as this ropeway takes you from the Ridge to the Jakhu Temple in just 6 minutes. One way journey costs Rs.250 per person. I recommend this, as it offers the Panoramic views of natural landscapes and steep slopes of Shivalik mountains. One can also opt for two way journey which costs Rs.500 per person.

3)By Walk:- While walking, one can enjoy the scenic views of beautiful mountains. It will take approximately 20-25 minutes, as it is 3 km away from the Ridge. However, it really depends on one‘s fitness. Surprisingly, I found that there is Fitness test board placed from where you start your walk, which tells the person if he/she is fit or not. This table displays how much time person should take to reach the temple with respective age.
