How we found the place?
One lazy afternoon, we decided on going for a drive. Since we didn't want to travel far, we squared down on explore Sarjapur area, as we were aware that there are some beautiful lakes still untouched. We started off by searching for some lakes near that area and decided upon Muthanallur Lake.
Tip: We always have a general direction on our mind, we put that are in the Google map. Then we zoom in and out to find a nearby location to the spot. Trust me, this has lead us to some beautiful places otherwise missed by a lot of people on the rush to explore Hyped places.
At first we gave our location as Devi shrine, near Muthanallur Lake, but that led to a disappointment, as we were led to a location with no clear view of lake and overgrowth of water lilies. But when we climbed up the bund we were able to see a clear water lake in a short distance.
So from there started our new journey to find a path that can took us to the shores of the lake. We decided to travel around the length of the lake as far as we could to find the path.
And we were not disappointed. After two detours, we found a way through the trees that lead us to the lake.
Roads:
So about the roads: you have tarred road except for the last 500 meters. There is a lot of path which will lead you to the sides of the lake. And you may have to travel through some Kaccha road for 500 meters. The road crosses through the villages. It will feel good to pass through the little Nature that is left around Bangalore.
Muthanallur Lake
The first glimpse of the lake brought a smile on the face of my child and it continued to grow when she saw the flower and chilly cultivation around the lake. This was something she witness only on television and not around her.
It is one of the last places that is the representation of the real Bengaluru.
The lake is spread over 600 acres. There are flowers-cultivating and chilly farms around the length of the lake. The environment around is serene. You can also see some fishermen doing fishing in their coracles. It is a heaven for someone interested in bird watching.
It's a calm and serene place to spend sometime with family. Untouched yet by humans. A wonderful place within the city limits. A gateway near Bangalore where you can take off you mask and take in fresh air.
Safety:
We spend around an hour near the lake. Since it was an isolated place and we were not familiar with the location, we left before dark.
They are locals nearby, going around doing the chores be it fishing or farming.
