Cancun is a beautiful city located in the heart of the Caribbean Mexico, a city with a Caribbean climate that has been since years of its founding one of the greatest pioneers of tourism in Mexico.
However, like many destinations around the world, they suffered from a "mandatory break" of their activities as a consequence of the confinement by the CORONAVIRUS.
And almost 8 months after this pause, just like other destinations, it is slowly "reactivating" its tourist economy and therefore it is necessary to know what has changed and what hasn't changed about this incredible tourist destination in Mexico.
Timetables
As a measure that takes place not only in the city of Cancun, but also in the entire state of Quintana Roo, which includes Playa del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, Tulum, Bacalar, Holbox, among other places, most of the premises and services are suspended from 10 pm.
Tourist services
Currently only 15% of Cancun's tourist services are operating, this is because many of them are going through the process of "reintegration" to the new normality.
We can cite for example the services of "Airport Cancun Transportation" which has to go through a continuous inspection of safety and compliance with the protocols of Sanitization.
This is very positive, since it leaves aside most of the "ducky" services of the city.
Antros
The city of Cancun has been known for many, many years for its nightlife and for having two of the best clubs in Latin America: Coco Bongo and The City.
Unfortunately The City is at the moment of writing this post (November 11, 2020) inactive, while the Coco Bongo nightclub is operating at only 20% of its capacity and has changed its "night shows" to an open air restaurant.
Other dens like "La Vaquita" and "Congo Bar" are operating, thanks to their open "dens", however they are kept in care not to exceed 30% of their capacity.
Restaurants
The city's restaurants are another of the establishments that have undergone various changes, as a first measure these do not have to separate the tables 1 meter away and most are overbooked.
Beaches
The beaches became a little more "exclusive" although now everyone, locals and tourists alike, has access to them, it has a limit of "people", that means that if you go to the beach for example at 12 pm and it is already full with its 150 people allowed, you will not be able to enter.
Of course, unless you are staying at a beachfront hotel, and if you want to find some, you can search for them at booking.com
Tourist Attractions
Xel ha, Xplor, Xcaret, Chichen Itza, Coba, are some of the tourist attractions of Cancun and the Riviera Maya, which are already in operation.
However, each one of them goes through a very strict security protocol and equally restricted to a number of people that does not exceed 30% of its capacity.
Likewise, tours to Isla Mujeres have become much more private, which gives a more intimate advantage at the time of taking them.
Hotels
Finally we have the hotels of the city, likewise not all operate at 100% of its capacity and the best is one in the Hotel Zone of Cancun and thus be able to access the beach at all times, contrary to what allows hotels in the city center.
Offers
To all this and something positive, is that the city in general is surrounded by very good offers, so you can even find activities at half price, hotels with incredible discounts and a much better privacy than before in almost all places where you decide to go.
So now that you know all this, get ready to visit Cancun.
