Over the long Dusshera weekend this September, I hit off to discover the last beach town of Maharashtra- Vengurla. Some 114 KM off north Goa, lies a sleepy, less explored and a much beautiful beach town of Vengurla. Set in the Konkan region of Maharashtra, Vengurla boasts  of white sand beaches, pristine waters and less crowded beaches. Our trip to Vengurla was possible thanks to the invitation and hospitality extended by Golven Beach Resort.

We took off on the Thursday evening on a Goa bound bus. The next morning we landed up at Kudal a small town on Konkan coast of Maharashtra. Post a tedious bus journey from Mumbai to Kudal, we decided to hop on to an auto and ride our way to the resort in Vengurla. Since Goa is closer to Vengurla,  people prefer escaping to its more popular counterpart. Also lack of cheap booze and amenities make Vengurla an expensive affair. However, in the recent past, people and Europeans in particular have discovered this quaint little beach village and now prefer to holiday in this lesser known heaven. Lack of human resource, perhaps is also another reason why the boom of hospitality in this little town is sparse.

Anybody looking for a beach vacation, away from the crowds and the black sea (thanks to the dirt we spread all around), I would recommend a short break to Vengurla.

Good one Deepika! Actually I too had been to Vengurla, Ubha danda beach. We had booked a stay at Golven beach resort. The stay was full of serenity and relaxation. We had been there to take break from our regular routine and it proved right decision!
