Mexico is famous for its food, culture and I feel also the colourful streets, Cancun was my first place in Mexico to explore. Checked in to my hostel ( Coco Hostel) which was a quite cool hostel. It was centrally located and they had lots of fun activities.
The most happening place there was the Palapas, which is in the heart of town. It was like a small fair where there were rides for children, many stalls to buy jewellery and cotton candy and have the very delicious Mexican cuisine.
There were singing performances, people dancing alone, dancing with their lovers, everyone having food and enjoying their lives. This day truly made me feel why Mexican culture is so rich and Mexicans surely know how to enjoy lives.
This day was to explore the Cancun city, which started with me going to a flea market nearby, check them out as markets I feel tell a lot about the place and it's culture.
The market was full of colourful things, just like the Mexican culture. Beautiful sombrero, bags, jewellery and also a place full of great food restaurants.
I got my braid done here, so as to look like a Latino since I was in Latin America. I don't know how far I succeeded in that but I enjoyed it. It took 2 hours to get my braids done. After a long 2 hours, I shopped a bit and finally went to the restaurant which served great Mexican food.
In every Mexican Restaurant in Cancun, you will always get complimentary Nachos and Salsa. The waiter there recommended few dishes so I thought I should try. For a safer side I ordered Tacos, Fish and Fry and the most refreshing drink ever made by humanity "CHAAYA", my favourite drink! It refreshes my soul.
After a great lunch I headed to catch the ferry which took to a nearby island, Isla Mujares. This lil island was so beautiful! Surrounded by clean beaches and narrow lanes of hippy cafes and stores.
After exploring this lil town, I went back to Cancun by the ferry and had a great sleep at my hostel after a loooooong day.
Arrived to Playa Del Carmen, which is a great party place and people say it's slightly Americanized but I believe a lot of Mexican culture was reflected in every corner of this small town.
It was a chill day, relaxed at the hostel, had a delicious burrito, went to a cenote which was very close to the sea. Cenote are freshwater bodies and it was so close to the sea that couldn't imagine how that was possible!
But it was a beautiful day, roamed around the colourful streets and then slept early because the next day was left for a lot of exploration.
This was an adventurous day! Went to the famous Cenote known for its incredible beauty "Rio Secreto" . Purely breathtakingly beautiful it was.
Went to public beach, had a Pinacolada and enjoyed the views🌊.
It was Christmas Eve so in the hostel, there was a celebration where people in the hostel had to gather for the feast. Everyone either prepared or bought something for everyone. Ahhh what a meal!💕
After the Christmas Eve celebration all of us went to party in club, almost 25 of us and had a great time.
The second best day of my trip was in Tulum.
Checked in to a beautiful hostel "La Sengrita", there was a swimming pool, a bug garden where there were hammocks to chill and relax and many trees with lots of birds making it like a heaven.
I rented a bicycle, went to the Cenote Calavera, which is highly instagrammed for it's beauty.
Then bicycled to the beach which is called the Paradise Beach, the best cycle ride ever. It was almost like 10kms! And when I reached there, it justified it's name. It was indeed like the Paradise.
Crazy sunsets of orange and pinkish hues in the sky, sooooo heavenly🌴🌊💕
On my way back to the hostel I also tried some fruits, they have a very different way of serving mangoes and I loved it! Also the litchis were so different and hairy as compared to India. Loved it all.
An iconic day. This day I witnessed CHICHEN ITZA! One of the Seven Wonders Of the World! I always wanted to go there and feel the energies of the Mayan Civilization. But apart from the CHICHEN Itza, there were few places more which made this day my best in Mexico!
First, went to Coba Archaeological zone which had the ruins of the temples and many more things of that era and Mayan Civilization.
From there I got to see the Pyramid of CHICHEN ITZA, it was just wonderful. I realised how much efforts they used to put in during those days to construct something. It had numerology, astronomy, architecture aspect, seasons, this pyramid was constructed bringing everything magically together, which made it the greatest of all time!
After the Pyramid, went to the beautiful cenote, you must have seen it on Instagram a lot! The IKKIL CENOTE.
On my way back, there was a very picturesque town known as Valladolid, famous for it's cathedral. But I honestly loved the colourful buildings and aesthetic streets of this town and also the food!
This was the last day and I kept this day to explore the Archaeological zone of Tulum which had temples of the wind god and the administration building ruins along the Paradise Beach.
Also went to Cenote Suytun which I was about to miss but couldn't afford to miss as it was one of the most beautiful cenotes and a mysterious one 💕
Mexico is a beautiful country, not once did I miss my own country, because it actually seemed like I was home. Beautiful people with beautiful culture. I really wish to have a home in Mexico and enjoy like the Mexicans do✨🐒
Gracias! Adiós💓🇲🇽
