Solo trip to Darjeeling (Tiger Hill and Kanchenjunga-India’s highest peak)

Anyone had been to Darjeeling? yup, I had been there...

Darjeeling is a town in India's West Bengal state, in the Himalayan foothills. We can reach Bagdogra International Airport and then can take taxi to Darjeeling or you can reach Siliguri from Bagdogra and take a shared taxi to Darjeeling. It costs you around Rs 500 and journey will be around 2-3 hours.

When I reached Darjeeling it was around 4 PM in the evening and the moment I got down from the taxi the temperature was around 12 degrees Celsius. It was my solo trip and stayed in Hideout homestay.I didn't had any plans on how to spend my next day and started interacting with the locals and there I got Tiger Hills. I had been to Kargil and there was a famous Tiger hill there, started wondering they do have a tiger hill in Darjeeling too. Then started asking how to reach there and found the solution for that too.

Have to take a shared taxi from the taxi stand in early morning around 4 AM or 4.30 AM and will cost us around 300-400 per head. Can book private taxi too and that will be bit expensive than the shared one. The distance to tiger hill is around 22 kilometres and will take around 1.5 hours to reach due to ghat sections and some hairpin curves.

Reached tiger hill around 6 AM and there were around 2000 taxis already in the place. The temperature was around 5-6 degree Celsius. Have to walk around 500-700 meters from taxi stand to reach Tiger Hill. The atmosphere was something crazy and there were around 5000 people to watch the sunrise and the beautiful Kanchenjunga which is highest peak in India.

The sunrise was mesmerising but Kanchenjunga was more than this. Probably the best view I have ever seen in my life.It looks like SLEEPING BUDDHA.
