It is probably where the romantics or the pioneer of distinguished romantic historiography, Sir Walter Scott would have come to take a stroll. Yet another beauty nestled on the Western Ghats for any avid traveller injected with lust for wandering. A Bangalore getaway at a distance of 255km, Coorg or Kodagu ornamented with multiple shades of brown and green swayed by the pleasant winds of the Ghats is a perfect juxtaposition of modern and pastoral. It encompasses various national parks and trekking and hiking trails for the daring souls whose forte is to survive unbeatable wilderness and an idyllic place for photographers. Melancholic rugged terrains and steep slopes with a backcloth of clear sky not only does it frame rightful justice to nature’s poetic excellence but also calls for an unprecedented thrill.

Whilst listening to various folklores on our way to the Honnamana Lake, also a popular spot for rock climbing, the journey made quite a remark for itself with mighty cliffs and lush background with perfumed richness of coffee.

Trek from Bhagati the route envelops a challenge that includes swamps, waterfalls, rugged trails, endangered species and dense forests, not to mention a stunning environment. The view from the ridge especially is the sharpest.

The most interesting thing to do here is home stay amid vast stretches of coffee plantation, a luring stay at one of their traditional cottages or resorts is quintessential bliss.
