I had never been to this freezing cold till then. As the temperature dropped down to somewhere close to -5 degree , I and my friend decided to take a walk to find out how my dream destination Kaza, the head quarters of spiti valley would look like at 2am. We had our dinner after a day long journey from Reckong peo that had it's start at 7am the day before and tried to give ourselves a good night's sleep by 11pm. But the overwhelming hapiness of finally making it to our long term dream destination refrained us from sleeping and that had made us to take a walk through the tiny streets of Kaza.
The freezing cold wind that made the Tibetan prayer flags wave and spread a feel of spirituality throughout Himachal Pradesh and a few other states of North most India had not lost its purpose in this small town too.
Kaza is the headquarters of spiti valley of Himachal Pradesh, India. Even after being the most important town of the entire valley which had other small towns like Nako, Tabo etc., Kaza is unconnected to other parts of the world half the year. The winters in Himachal would completely pour snow throughout the roads making the town isolated with rest of the world. Even today, the daily newspapers would reach Kaza only one day after its publication. With almost zero internet and other connectivity , Kaza like other places in this remote valley has to offer true essence of nature, breathtaking views and pure "technology-untouched" living.
After taking a short walk, we reached back to our shelter for the night. We decided to go to the rooftop with the camera for some star trails. Sitting at the cliff of the rooftop turning my camera's self-timer on for a long exposure shot, all I could think was the start of our journey " #thewhiteexpedition "
Stay tuned for part 2 to know about the planning, begining and the journey to Kaza.!
