On the way back @ Kalyan station

People who love the finer things in life will definitely love to escape on a weekend to Sula Vineyards in Nashik. This place is 165 kms away from Mumbai by road, 128 kms by train and 136 kms by air.

Route:

There are many outstation trains that halt at Nashik station. We took the Gorakhpur Express from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus that departs at 6.35AM. Do check the IRCTC website for other timing options that are convenient to you. We reached Nashik at 10.15 am considering the fact that the train was half an hour behind schedule. At Nashik station there are options to either take a rickshaw or a cab. The choice is yours depending on the number of people travelling and luggage in hand. Nashik is a well-developed city and you will not face any major challenge regarding to transport facilities.

We took a share rickshaw that cost us Rs. 150 and accommodated 4 people.

On reaching our hotel, Rama Heritage, at 11.45am we decided to have light snacks at the restaurant.

After freshening up, we booked a car-cab (8 seater) to go to Sula Vineyard that is another hour from the main city. We briefly halted at a local hotel for lunch and unanimously deduced that this was one of the best decisions because we managed to hog on some delicious non-veg fare at dirt cheap prices.

Moving ahead we finally reached Sula Vineyards which is located off the Gangapur-Savargaon Road. The major attraction at Sula is the wine tour wherein at a reasonable cost of Rs. 150 they tell you about the evolution of the company, the grape varietals, the wine-making process and wine-tastings. Unfortunately, it was a dry day when we visited Sula Vineyards due to a local area election. Therefore, do call and check before you visit. However, they took us thorough the wine tour albeit for the wine tasting. They also sell their wines at the location. You can enjoy the superb view of the vieyards right in front of the property. A scenic view.

They have two restaurants, one Italian and one Indian, but we decided to give it a miss.

3 kms away from the vineyard location is the resort of Sula Vineyards called as Beyond. The resort is a beautiful place to say with almost 40 rooms and one Villa to occupy. You will be mesmerised by the infinity pool, pleasant weather and bespoke services.

Post the resort journey we headed back to our hotel. The next day, we took local transport again to live up to the ’budget trip.’ J Not to forget the scrumptious and filling breakfast that we were served over buffet at Rama Heritage.

We hired an eight seater cab (although a little crammed up with the luggage that we were carrying) and headed towards Kasara station which took an hour to cover the distance of 121 kms.

The local train journey from Kasara to Bombay was a smooth one. However, do check the train timings beforehand to ensure you do not end up waiting at the station.
