When I visited Varanasi I realised that it is not just for amazing chaat, the temples and Ganga aarti. Varanasi also known as 'Banaras' is one the most important places to go atleast once in your lifetime but did you know this is the place where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon?
Lord Buddha rolled the wheel of dhamma, and now Varanasi will be getting a Bhutanese temple dedicated to him.
Pilgrims from Bhutan visit Varanasi
A lot of pilgrims from Bhutan are seen visiting Varanasi frequently, which is why a proposal was submitted by the Bhutanese government to the Union Tourism and Culture Ministry several years ago.
Since Buddhism is the official religion followed in Bhutan, the Bhutanese pilgrims would want to visit the Lord Buddha temple.
Temple and guesthouse will be built on the land
The land will be provided by the Uttar Pradesh government to the Bhutanese government on behalf of India. This just sounds like such a peaceful way to welcome the Bhutanese in our country by building the temple and a guest house on the land.
This new project has been picked up and the land will be transferred soon on a lease of 30 years at a token amount of Rs 10 and an annual rent of one rupee.
The location is very close to the Babatpur Airport in Varanasi, whilst the Bhutanese representatives have agreed to it.
