Day 1

I love to travel and explore new places. So to self pamper myself I had made up my mind to travel to the most serene beaches I knew of in India. The idea was to spend a week away from all work, relatives and friends locked into the arms of nature !! I decided to pack my bags and with my friend left for andamans. Boy-o-boy did the Andamans surprise us? You bet. We decided to go for a week's trip to Andaman's. We stay at Bengaluru and thanks to the economical advise by my friend we decided to catch a to & fro flight from Chennai (instead of Bengaluru) to Port Blair. This did save us some money.

We booked a bus trip from Bengaluru to Chennai and subsequently a flight from Chennai to Port Blair. The to & fro bus travel costed us Rs 4,000 per person while the flight ticket was Rs 10,000 per person.

We were travelling in Month of August and the tourist season was just starting. In terms of itinerary we decided the following: Day 1: Port Blair, Day 2: Havelock Island, Day 3 & Day 4 (Neil Island) and finally Day 5 (travel to Chennai).

One caveat that I must inform to all readers is that during monsoon season, weather can be bad in these islands which leads to cancellation of ships. Since ship is the primary mode of travel between one island to another, you must be prepared for these uncertainties.

So we reached Port Blair airport with our spirits high. We had booked our accomodation for one day at Sunnyvale Andaman (a budget stay at 2500 per night).  The owner, Mr Naseer had contacted us a week earlier after my booking. Based on his advice I had purchased the cruise tickets for Havelock and Neil Island in advance (an advice I would definitely like to share). At Port Blair we took an activa and roamed around the capital. We went to the Jetty, the Cellular Jail and the beach and finally called it a day. It was an amazing day.

Early next morning, we took the cruise to Havelock Island (a 3 hour journey). The cruise tickets are available at approx. Rs 1500 per person. We had booked our stay at Seashell Resort. As soon as we entered this serene and peaceful hotel, we were encouraged to do Scuba Diving together. That was indeed a good decision to explore the bottom of the sea (costed us Rs 7000 together). Finally we came back to our room which was a delight in itself. By evening we decided to swim in their unique swmming pool gazing into the starry night and sea breeze flowing all around.

With heavy heart we bade goodbye to Havelock as we set sail to Neil Island. We had booked our stay at Summer Sands Beach Resort. They had a flowing swimming pool and every room's balcony opened to it. That was a great experience as we kept on just enjoying each other's company, swam together and went to the beaches around.

Finally two days passed and we returned to Port Blair, caught our flight to Chennai and then returned to Bengaluru.

If I have to make suggestions, I would say every couple should definitely visit Havelock and enjoy the most beautiful beaches there.
