Make the most of your rupee!

Tripoto

If there's one golden rule that we Indians should follow while travelling, it's this:

Don't convert.

But like with all good advice, this is easier said than done. Conversion is in our DNA, and it's probably second nature in most of us, so ridding oneself of it completely will be no mean feat. We’ve all been on a foreign trip where at least one person has said ‘100 Rupees for a bottle of water! This is extortion’. But the ever fluctuating rupee is really no fault of the country we’re touring.

Converting your destination’s currency to the rupee when you're abroad can be stressful and end up putting a real dampener on your holiday spirits. It's best to relax and live in the moment. But till we reach that level of nonchalance, check out these places handpicked by Skyscanner, where the Indian currency feels less depressing! And you'll be rather happy converting.

1. Hungary

Think all of Europe is expensive? Well, then consider Hungary – the European destination that makes you love the fact that you earn in INR. With 1 Indian rupee equalling 4 Hungarian forint, you're unlikely to use your phone calculator for frenzied conversions while buying essentials and dining at restaurants. Capital Budapest has lots to offer and is a tourist hotspot.

With the currency being 1 INR to 61 Cambodian riel, your inner Uncle Scrooge is unlikely to manifest in this part of the world.
