So I was all set to visit a happiest country
Yes I am talking about Bhutan
Here i will be sharing a short itinerary of 7 days/6 nights to a trip of bhutan which i went recently
Later on i will publish my top 25 experiences in Bhutan
places that i visited during my trip to Bhutan
*Phuentsholing/Jaigaon (2 nights)
*Thimphu(2 nights)
*Punakha
*Paro(2 nights)
Day 2:
Reach immigration office for a 7 days permit to Thimphu and Paro ..for visiting Punakha you need to make permit from Thimphu itself
For making permit you need 2 passport size photos and a voter id card will be enough for identification
If going by taxi from india ..a permit for taxi will also be made from RTO office
Transfer to Thimphu that day as it is a long, tiring and a zig zag journey from phuentsholing
It is better to start as early as possible so it reach by evening and stroll in thimphu market
If going by bus last bus departs at 4 pm from thimphu
Stay at Thimphu
Day 3:
After having your breakfast start from first point of visit “National Memorial chorten”
After that you can cover Buddha point and changangkha lhakang
However there are some small visiting points that might not interest for many like zoo, textile museum, national folk heritage museum
Later on around 4 pm one can visit tashichho dzong during flag ceremony
Stay at thimphu
Pro tip: go to thimphu immigration office for punakha permit next day in between your day of exploring thimphu
Day4:
Get ready for a day well spent at Punakha
Punakha is around 90km from Thimphu
You can spot dochula pass which is 20 kms from Thimphu..spend some time there
After that there are 3 more points to cover
First is Punakha dzong …which is most beautiful dzong I found in Bhutan
After that go visit khasum yulley namgyal chorten doing 1.5 hrs of trek, you can see whole view of punakha valley from top
Last point that you will be covering will be Punakha suspension bridge …such a beautiful and longest suspension bridge in Bhutan
After having lunch transfer directly to Paro which is around 130 km
Explore the market of paro in night
Stay at paro
Day 5:
Start early after having breakfast for a trek to tiger’s nest monastery ..came back till afternoon
As the trek will take max of 3-4 hrs ..after having lunch one can visit kyichu monastery and national museum
After that feel the vibe of this place …explore market
I find Paro more soothing and peaceful place as compared to Thimphu
Stay at Paro
Day 6:
After having your Breakfast one can visit Paro Dzong and after that go to chelala pass after passing through scenic drive. It is at 14000 ft you can see spectacular views of Haa and Paro valleys from there
Spend some time there ..enjoy such a beautiful weather and serene mountains
Coming down from there enjoy riverside view of pochu river
Now there is travel of around 6 hours from paro to phuentsholing/ Jaigaon
Stay at jaigaon is cheaper as compared to phuentsholing
Day 7:
After having breakfast ..transfer to bagdogra airport
Do book afternoon or evening flights back to home

Day 1:
Board a flight from your city till bagdogra, reach till afternoon and after that either take a bus from siliguri to jaigoan/phuentsholing in Bhutan. However if you are in group of 5 hiring a cab will be a good idea from airport itself
There is an airport in Bhutan also at paro …however it has less connectivity
You can also hop on using train services..Hasimara is the nearest railway station to border of india-bhutan i.e phuentsholing
From bagdogra airport jaigaon is 190 km approx take rest over night
