Day 1

It was 4 in the morning and I was awake waiting for the next 30 minutes to see if I was really going to do it.

I had quit my high paying job and decided to ride my motorbike across all the states and union territories of India. I had not informed anyone about this journey I was about to take and that included my parents.

I had got my bike ready with a proper service done and a leh carrier attached at the back for the luggage. I was packed and it wasn't much just two pairs of clothes, shoes, cameras and few other essentials. I was waiting for the clock to hit 4 30 AM at which time I would start riding when the rest of them at home are still sleeping and my first destination would be to the village of Auroville,Pondicherry.

Pondicherry is an union territory of India and Auroville is a small self made village community within Pondicherry. If one is riding on the east coast road then Auroville village can be found on the right side of the road approximately 8 to 10 KMS before the town of Pondicherry.

It is only a 150 KM ride from Chennai to Auroville and I had reached my destination within a matter of few hours.

Auroville is a beautiful self made community which comprises of people coming from different parts of the world and made this place their home. All are welcome there to be a part of their community provided they contribute to the development of the community by volunteering in different roles like a farmer, gardener, musician, artist, teacher, film maker, yoga practitioner and so on.

All the products used within the village are made by the people of the community which are open for sale to the tourist as well as for their daily needs. Most of the houses also use small scale windmills and other self sustainable methods for their water and electricity needs.

If one takes a walk inside Auroville he/she could feel peace, serenity, breathing fresh air from the sea of plants and trees in the surrounding and understand that this is how it feels to be walking among nature.
