Top 5 best destinations to visit Bali in November:
1 Nusa Penida:
HOW TO GO: It is an island to the south east of mainland Bali, as soon as I landed in Bali I came to Port Sanur and took a speed boat to Nusa Penida. Speed boat is mostly preferred as it is more safe and you reach faster (approx. 35-40 mins). This speed boat travels only 3 times a day so it is more feasible to check the timings before going.
STAY: Since my stay at Nusa Penida was only for 2 nights I booked a room at this luxurious hotel Semabu Hills in Nusa Penida as it was at a height, also close to the port and gave me an amazing view of the beach from my room You can also consider other options like Coco resort and Astiti resort which are also close to the west port and Bamboo Bungalow and Ogix Cliff Paradise which are on the east of the island.
SIGHTSEEING: I then booked a day tour around Nusa Penida which took me to five amazing points: The Angles Billabong, Broken beach, Kelinking beach, Crystal bay and Atuh beach. If you are lucky enough u can even experience a small shower which enhances the beauty of these points.
You can also rent a scooty and drive your way to these points but be careful as the roads are not friendly especially during the monsoon.
Coming to water sports, I would suggest to do it in Nusa Penida than in mainland Bali. I already had a plan for water sports in Kuta as it was costlier in Penida but I think it’s worth it because I wasn’t happy with the place in Kuta. So, I would suggest do not miss water sports in Penida even though it is costlier.
NOTE: Do carry a little extra money with you as you may need it on your way to have food and no currency except Indonesian rupiah is accepted here.
HOW TO GO: After coming back to Port Sanur from Penida I hired a car and went to Bedugul. It is better to rent a car beforehand because there is no other means of transport in Bali.
STAY: The hotel I stayed there was Saranam eco resort. This resort has an amazing view of the rice fields behind and lots of fun activities such as morning yoga or a walk around the rice fields in the evening etc. I really love the place and would suggest you to stay here if you are planning to go to Bedugul.
Earlier I had a plan of staying in Ubud which is the center of Bali but if you want to cover both the east and the west coast like me, moving more towards the north will reduce your distance and also allow you to explore the beauty of Bali in the interiors.
• Mountain biking between the rice fields is one thing you should not miss in Bedugul. It’s therapeutic and takes you closer to nature but I would suggest you to do this activity preferably in the morning as later the sun can cause disturbance.
• I then visited the Ulun Danu Beratan temple which is also called as the floating temple of Bali. It is spectacular as this temple is located inside a garden and one can easily spent an hour or two inside just relaxing.
3.The coastal drive
So, my plan for the third day in Bedugul was actually to visit the Devatu Vishnu, an underwater Hindu temple in north west Bali. I planned to go to the temple by taking the coastal route in the north but wasn’t lucky enough as it was closed due to rains but the coastal drive was something worth spending time to.
WHAT TO DO: The coastal drive crossing through great city Singharaja gives you an amazing countryside view. I would suggest you to hire a car for a day, plan this coastal drive and have a local food on the way experiencing the stunning country side view of Bali.
Note: Cost of a car with driver for one day in Bali is around 5,00,000-6,00,000 Indonesia Rupiah.
4 Tegenugan Waterfall
HOW TO GO: The Tegenugan waterfall is a hike down between the mountains and takes about half an hour to reach.
WHAT TO DO: There are small vendors in between. They sell a lot of variety of interesting merchandise items. Tourists enjoy bargaining at these places and carry these tiny little pieces back home for their loved ones as a memory of their amazing experience in Bali.
WHY IN NOVEMBER: In November one, can reach the water fall and enjoy the sprinkles as against the rainy season the river literally flows with full throttle and at times becomes a risky proportion to get down in the water.
5 Cruise to Lembongan island
South of Bali is the best to experience the night life. There are cruises from port Sanur to Lembongan island at night and is really worth going to. Since it is November the chilled weather at night even adds to the beauty. Drinking, dance, music and some entertain programs are the best here.
