Day 1

Most of us have been to a Monastery once in our lifetime. We know them as the place where the monks live and worship Lord Buddha. However how you heard about a Lamestry?!I suppose not! So this time while I was in Beijing I got this opportunity to set foot inside a Lamestry and believe me,it was worth the trip!

The architecture of a Lama Temple or the Lamestry is quite similar to that of a Monastery, however on a close inspection the carvings and the patterns used on the walls are very different. This is the entrance to the Lama Temple.

As soon as you enter the premises, you get to see a tradition that is very much prevelant in the Hindu temple also i.e.- Burning the incense sticks.

Once you are done offering your prayers, you can actually go around the temple and see some of the replicas of ancient artefacts and relics of Chinese Kingdoms that were the followers of Lamestry.
