How many of you have lived your most embarrassing nightmare? I have. And to get over it, I thought of sharing it with you guys.
Location: Grand Cru Wine Club, Bratislava
Event: Wine Tasting
Rated on top on the list of the best wineries in Bratislava for the traditional Slovakian wine, a trip to Martin’s Grand Cru Wine Club was a must. After exploring this surprisingly beautiful city (surprising ‘cuz we were never particularly excited about Bratislava until of course we reached here.) we headed to Martin’s.
Hidden in an alley of the main market, Grand Cru Wine Club didn’t look very big until of course we headed downstairs in a raw, well planned room to sit for our wine tasting session.
I don’t quite know if it was the wine or Martin’s humor and hospitality that got us all eased up. It seemed this man had only one purpose in life- to make great wine and to generously get people drunk. He sure was happy to do it.
In case you’re wondering where is that nightmare that I earlier started off with…
WAIT FOR IT!
THE NIGHTMARE BEGINS…
4Bottles down and we decided it was best to head back to our hostel. I made a mandatory visit to the wash room, hence left before everyone else. Now the minute I was ready to go out, I figured the door won’t open.
My version from the inside: THE DOOR ISN’T OPENING.
YES, I AM LOCKED INSIDE THE BATHROOM OF A WINE CLUB ALL THE WAY IN BRATISLAVA.
*you can take your time to digest that*
Now look, I’ve always had trouble calling Left as Left and Right as Right or just getting it right most of the times. Did I consider that I could be dyslexic? Once? Twice? Thrice may be. Then I shut it out stating Lack of sufficient relevant symptoms.
Coming back, I tried turning the knob in every possible direction, multiple times to get the door to open.
BUT THE TRUTH REMAINED THAT I GOT LOCKED INSIDE A BATHROOM (hides face)
So Martin and Parichay tried helping me from the outside, gave instructions. But do you think it was working? At least not for 15-20minutes.
In the meanwhile, D and Bunny from the outside started yelling and wanted to open the window to rescue me.
DON’T JUDGE ANYBODY OR ANYTHING.
Guess what? After much chaos, drama and yelping and getting tones of people worried, I tried again and the door opened. Yes, THE BATHROOM DOOR OPENED ALL FROM THE INSIDE.
I don’t know how or why? Let’s not discuss the potentials.
Yes, that was MY embarrassing nightmare that I (tipsily) LIVED.
Did it end here?
No. It didn’t end here.
I got locked in the bathroom on 2-3 more occasions for the rest of the trip for a short while. But yes, locked in the bathroom in different cities.
Everytime there seemed to be extra turns on the door knob or a struggle in getting a lock opened, nobody needed to guess who it was! Does this even happen to anybody else?
There, I said it ????
PS. This story is true to every word.
Until next post,
Parampara
