Uttar Pradesh is all set to introduce pod taxis from Greater Noida to the upcoming Jewar International airport so people can easily commute. As per the news report, Dhirendra Singh, BJP MLA from Jewar in Greater Noida said "We already have Metro connectivity till Greater Noida but Jewar is about 25 kilometers from Greater Noida city. To bridge this gap, pod taxis are being considered."
What is a pod taxi?
A pod taxi is a driverless mode of transport that moves along the city skyline and can accommodate four to six people per car at a time. Quite popular in several foreign countries, these hi-tech pod taxis have been proved to be more viable than metro trains as they are eco-friendly, cost-effective and offer last-mile connectivity.
According to media reports, the DMRC will be responsible for developing the pod taxi service that will connect Greater Noida and Jewar International Airport. This will help reduce travel time, thereby providing a hassle-free travel experience to the commuters to and from India's biggest airport.
