A 3-month long utsav in the Great Rann of Kutch in Gujarat is one life time experience. The Rann Utsav glorifies the colorful culture, the traditions, crafts and it’s Sand!

Gujarat state, every year in winter, organises this desert festivity for the tourists not only for domestic but also for foreign tourists.

Rann Utsav provides a supreme opportunity to the tourists to explore the White Rann – the white serene expanse that lies along the India-Pak border. Considered to be the largest salt desert in the world, White Rann under the moonlight offers stunning creations of nature. Kutch is divided into Central Kutch, where we can visit the monuments museums and markets along with the craft parks. Also there are some famous places to visit - Bhujia Fort, Hamrisar Lake, Darbargandh complex - where we can see the ornate balconies and carvings on the wall. Then there is Aina Mahala and Fuvara Mahal, the Pragmahal Palace, the Sharad Bagh Palace and the Kutch Museum - where we can see Saka inscriptions, Kutch koris (coin collection) and lot of other handicrafts. You can also visit Bhujidi, known or the Rabari and Marwada embroidery. At short distances there are a lot of tiny villages of tribal population wherein one can find a lot of craft work done by the localities.

There is also Khamir Crat Resource Center on the Kukma Road known for handloom, block paintimg, metal bells, pottery, silver jewelry, etc. From Kukma, you can travel onward to Anjar, which is known for its bandhani and metal crafts.

Towards the North to the Desert is Bhuj-Khavda Highway. From there one can drive to the Dattatreya temple atop Kala Dungar (black hill).

The West Kutch has a Nirona, a village where one can ind a rare art of Rogan.

On the Coastal Kutch, there is Lakhpat from where we can travel Narayansarovar and the shore temple at Koteshwar. Towards south is Tera Fort, which has fascinating Ramayana folk murals. The another destination is Mandvi, which has Vijay Vilas Palace and beautiful beached. There are some ports nearby - Mundra Port, Kandla Port and a planned city of Gandhidham.

Eastern Kutch is Dholavira (Approx 290 km from the popular Rann Utsav site), the excavations that provide an insight into the Indus Valley or Harappa Civilization, which was specially mature about 2500-1900BC.
