Well, we all love coffee, or at least we do! You can be a 'Chai Person', but you cannot not love coffee, right? But, why are we talking about coffee, today? So, while we were mindlessly scrolling through our old travel photos, we suddenly bumped into this one photo from Vietnam that brought back so many sweet, caffeinated memories! And, before we could even say knife, we thought of introducing you to this out of the ordinary tasting coffee!

I had not turned vegan back when we visited Vietnam, so the moment I learned about EGG COFFEE (yes, you read that right!), I instantly wanted to taste it. Although, the idea sounded quite weird in my head, I won't lie! But what's life without a little experimenting, no?

Before we walk you through the history of Egg Coffee, I want to quickly fill you all in on how exactly it tasted! It was heavenly! In fact, heavenly would totally be an understatement, to be honest! It was sweet, with a super creamy consistency! And yeah, it tasted nothing like egg. There wasn't any eggy flavor, what so ever! One of the major reasons why we loved it, and kept having it with so much relish! Also, they use condensed milk, so it's a win-win deal for all the peeps who have a sweeth tooth! :)

WHY WAS EGG COFFEE INVENTED IN THE FIRST PLACE?

Back in 1946, during the French war, there was a serious shortage of milk in Hanoi, so people came up with an idea to use the egg yolk as a substitute. It wasn't immediately popular, as it took a long to hand-whisk the egg to the right consistency, and it tasted too much like egg. But with the invention of the blender and the slow adaptation of the recipe to eliminate the eggy flavor, the drink exploded in popularity in the 1980s.

So, tell us, would you swig a mouthful of this brilliantly tasting coffee?
