As travel enthusiasts it was our dream to visit spiti valley and we had set out for it, after our stay in manali for a few days, we began our journey to spiti  valley. But luck was not on our side, the road towards spiti valley was blocked due to landslide and we were left disappointed. It was almost night and we decided to stay in a place for the night and that was Khoksar. Khoksar exists only for 6 months in a year, when the winter starts almost everyone here move to different places as it gets covered in snow.

It's a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains with some amazing landscapes. It was almost dark when we reached here and was disappointed because spiti still remained a dream. We were expecting nothing from khoksar and then sun came with a surprise.

Khoksar has a buddhist monastery carved inside a mountain and that's what we saw as we came out of our rooms in the morning and that became our destination of the day.
The dhimpug gompa, the monastery made in a mountain.
The path towards here is a small trek and there are no  monks who reside in this place. We were panting and sweating in that cold while we reached the top, sitting in their prayer room, listening to the song of wind, I remembered the beginning
The dhimpug gompa of khoksar has no permanent monks, hence the monastery is taken care by this lady and that place is divine.
There is no one to monitor what she does but there is no less effort due to that. "Being true to your self" is what she implied on me.

The rohtang pass road was a mess due to rain and the ride was quite hectic, as the destination still remained a dream we were cheerless. The mountains woke the explorers in us and the journey continued.

We were staying in a motel and it's owner lives a kind of a nomadic life, with the money that he earns from here in six months he travels to Goa for the rest of the year and stays there with his family, he said that every time they build these structures during the summers and demolishes them while they leave. 'We have nothing more than this moment in life, live happily' he said. These gist of those words have been reaching my ears in different ways and in different accents since i started travelling.

Khoksar shows the beauty of the unexpected and the feeling of being a human. There will be a  coming back to this place, a brief one, sleeping in the lap of those mountains and waking up to see their faces and then, walking to know their heart.
There will be a coming back for that warmth.
