Kalsubai is the highest peak in Maharashtra and it is also know as Everest of Maharashtra. It was a one day trip. I along with my friends travelled by private vehicle from Mumbai to Kalsubai. It is located in the western Ghat. It is approx 160 km from Mumbai and it took approx 4 to 5 hours to reach the location. On the way to kalsubai, there are lot of waterfalls and lakes also. This makes it more beautiful and the best times to visit is monsoon but have to more careful. On these places, there are most of the local people provide services such as Pay n Park, Food services, Guide service. If order is placed and then you can park your car at free of cost. Hence we did the same.
It was raining heavily on that day. Car was parked. We started trekking, we were offered for guide which was costing INR 400 to INR 500 approx, it may vary due to seasonal demand. We did not take guide along with us. The height of Kalsubai peak is 1646 meters. We started trekking around 11.30 AM. While trekking, it was fun along with heavy rain and fog. Sometimes it scared us but never the less it was amazing experience. There are stalls in between the trek, where you eat light food such as Maggy, Bread Omelette etc. to gain the energy as the path is very difficult and it take all your energy off. Once we reached 1300 meter that time we started feeling the wind flow. It was very fast and we had to bend down sometimes. There are couple of stair cases which are almost steep and climbing those is a task. So after leaving at 11.30 AM, we reached at 2.30 PM, took us approx 3 hour to reach the peak. The wind was so fast that we sat there only for 5 to 10 min by holding the railing also it was so foggy and cold that couldn't take picture properly. Also nothing was visible because of fog. Here is the tough part, after full of energy while climbing now its time to go down. It was climate foggy and accompanied by rain hence it was very cold. On the way slushy mud, I fell also couple of times 😁. But it was fun and it took 3 hours approx to reach the base area. We had our so called lunch at 6.00 PM. While driving back home, it was so foggy that we couldn't see the road in Igatpuri, which is a hill station and popular for weekend getaways.
It was the most memorable trip of my life and if I get one more, will never say no to this one. 😊
