Fog, is a visible aerosol, that consist of, tiny water droplets, which are suspended, in the air. When vapour condenses, fog is formed. Mist is defined as, cloud cover, which encounters, mountains totally. Mist, is a light beem, that gives, visibility. Mist usually occurs, near the shores, and on mountain tops, when extreme temperature, is low.

With onset of winter, all over India, fog and mist, play a major part, for travellers get to visualise, the touch of clouds on peaks, that always circulate cool air, that will leave you fresh, for hours. They are generally seen, all over hill stations, that as you climb the hills, touch of mist, would start. Fog usually occurs, late night and leaves late in the morning, that dew drops are visible, in the mornings. India being a tropical country, with heat all round the year, winter months offer the visibility and feel of, fog and mist. Though hill stations, nature is cold, fog and mist, make it more colder, that many times they do, creep into your bones.

-COORG☝️- popularly known as, Kodagu, bordered by Dakshina Kannada, on the northwest, kasargod on the west, Hassan on the north, mysore on the east, by road from mysore, it is 120km away. This hill station, is full of, coffee plantations, that lush green beauty of the landscapes, would never miss your eyes. Coorg is called as the, Scotland of India, where fresh coffee, is brewed from, fresh beans. Talacavuery, rajas seat, irruppu falls, abbey falls, Honnamma kere lake, madikeri fort, honey valley, and bhagamandala are places to visit. Rain and sunshine play hide and seek, that, fog and mist do take turns, to arrive.

NAINITAL☝️- A popular hill station, in the state of Uttarkhand , located in kumaon foothills, that is about 345km away, from New Delhi, a famous place, where you wouldn’t miss seeing, the misty lakes and mountains. The myth story is that, it is one of the, sakthi peetam, where eyes of goddess sati fell. This hill station, is also called as, “city of lakes” for there are quite a large number of lakes, that offer picturesque views. Naini lake, naini devi temple, Tiffin top, Naina peak, Himalayan view point, governor house, zoo, and hanuman Garhi are places to visit. Be summer or winter, mist always, makes its entry, while fog descends, only during winter.

KODAIKANAL☝️-Kodai means summer, while kanal means seeing. A place for summer escape, but winters offer, dense fog, and morning mist, all over. Located in, Tamilnadu popularly called as, Princess of hill stations, palaiyar tribes were, the first inhabitants, of this hill station. Silent valley, is one such spot, where mist descends,and slowly clearing give you, view, feel and, moment of mist. Kodai lake, Pillar rock, devils kitchen, coakers walk, Thalaiyar falls, Berijam lake, dolphin nose, Bryant park, Kurunji temple, are places to visit.

PELLING☝️- A small hill town, in Sikkim, which is nestled, between Geyzing and Gangtok, that Himalayas and Kanchenjunga, can be closely viewed, from here. Thick forest, scenic places and breath taking view points, are popular, in this town. The belief, was that this place served, as a home, for many wild animals, during wild man era. Namgyal dynasty, ruled this place, that over years, Buddhism spread, all over this town. Being a very cold place, during winter, sure there must be fog, all over, with mist making its, regular appearances. Yuksom, pemayangtse monastery, Darap village, Kanchenjunga National park, rabetentse ruins, dzongri trek, Khecheopairi lake, are places to visit.

DARJEELING☝️- Dorje means thunder, bolte seeptree of lord Indra, while ling means land. Located in West Bengal, popular for Kanchenjunga view, tea estates, and UNESCO world heritage site, winters make this place, biting cold,that snow fall, snow view, is something very memorable. Bagdogra airport, is the nearest, while there are trains, till new jalpaiguri, and from there riding by, Himalayan railway, is something unique. Since it was ruled, by gurkhas, Nepalese, Nepali culture, prevail all over this, hill station. Momos are popular here, followed by Kinema, chhurpi, bamboo shoots, sel Roti, tongbu, chhaang are popular bites. Tiger hill, batasia loop, nightingale park, rock garden, peace pagoda, Padmaja Naidu zoo park, ghoom monastery, musuem, are places to visit.

MCLEODGANJ☝️- Named after, sir donal Friell McLeod, where the meaning means, neighbourhood, located in Kangra district, Himachal Pradesh, it is known as, little Lhasa. The history says that, during British rule, it was a hill station, that was called, as escape from summer. They annexed this hill station, in 1850 during, Sikh war. Kangra airport, is the nearest, while Kangra valley, railway is nearest accessible junction, and by Bus, highways and ghat section, are well laid. Winters offer, dip in temperatures, that cool air circulates, leaving you to freeze. Bhagsu falls, Tibetan musuem, dharamkot, Dal lake, minkiani pass, Dhauladar rangers, Kangra fort, baglamukhi temple and museum, are places to visit.

LONAVALA- Popular hill station, on Pune district, Maharashtra, it is known as, Lonavali in Marathi which actual means, series. The history says that, yadava dynasty ruled, followed by Mughals, then Marathas, and Peshwas. Marala warriors, played an important part, of history here. Marathi cuisine, prevail all over this place, that Vada pav and Masala chai are popular. Bushi dam, Lonavala lake, Rajmachi fort, was museum, aambey valley, karla caves, visapur fort, bhairavnath temple, Narayani dham temple, are places to visit. Winters are cold, with cool, breezy air all over, that nature offers, lush greenery all over. Mist, covers this hill station, followed by dense fog too. 

The word winter means, “wind-water”, they are called coldest season, of that year. The tilt of earths axis, actually is the reason, in the formation, of this weather. Winters, are usually dry, cold, breezy, and foggy-misty. The skies are clear, daytime has peak of sun, but nights are cold. There are many destination, in India, that offer awesome winter travel, places meant to be travelled, only in winter. India being, a tropical country, very few places are, snowy during winter, but they are foggy and misty. Ideal time for travel, travellers, for it offers, a great rejuvanation, on the forth coming, harsh summer.
