Day 1

The second longest wall in Asia after The Great Wall of China, the lesser know one THE KUMBALGARH FORT, RAJASTHAN. The fort is situated 90 km from Udaipur, we had travel by local taxi who charged us 1500 for a round trip and the roads are in very good condition with the Aravalli range on aside and we get to know the interiors of Rajasthan as we have to pass through couple villages. It takes approx two hours to reach the fort from Udaipur.

On reaching the destination we need to pay a nominal fee of 20rs as parking charges and 50 rs as an entry fee. So when we got down from the car we saw the walls of the fort which were not huge but were humongous and were are approx 20 meters in height has the walls are as thick as approx 15-18 ft as informed by the local guide that at a time six horses used to run on the wall as a patrolling through mountain cliff on which wall is built during the ancient time.

The fort is surrounded by Aravalli range from all four sides and the GREAT WALL OF THE FORT IS STRETCHED UPTO 36-37 KM. The fort is maintained very well in terms of cleanliness and heritage. The fort was built in a phase in the 15th century by Rana Khumb, so it has derived its name from Maharaj and is known as KUMBALGARH. The fort has approx 300+ temples situated inside the boundaries of the fort (As per guide information). A fort is also a Birth Place of the GREAT WARRIOR KING MAHARANA PRATAP THE KING OF MEWAR who refused to join hands with the Mughals.

There are many doors to the fort to name few are Hunuman door, Ram door Arati door etc. we entered through Ram doors/Pols  which is massive and is made of strong wood with sharp iron spears fixed on the upper half of the door and the lower half has the iron strips to the border and at the centre of the door.
We need to walk approx 4-5 km to reach the palace known as Badal Mahal which is situated on top, from where we get to see the fort from all four side walls stretch across as we proceed towards the palace we get to see the stable which was used to keep horses, servant rooms, weapon room.
A few of the famous temples located inside the temples are Ganesh Temple, Shiv Temple, Jain temples, Vedi Temple Yagya Temple are which will catch everyone’s attention with their magnificent architecture which also impress many foreign tourists who are engrossed in sketching the beauty of our heritage.
The Shiv Temple has a massive Shiv Ling on approx 3 feet tall and 5 feet broad and it looks like the temples are carved from one single road and the beauty of all the temples is well preserved by the authority

As there are few food stalls in the fort do carry a water bottle and other eatables as we need to walk a lot and KINDLY DISPOSE IT IN THE DUTBINS PLACED IN THE FORT AND DO NOT THROW ANYWHERE ELSE.
