Day 1

Anjneri is one of the place in the mountain range of Nashik-Trambakeshwar ,and it is known as birth place of Lord Hanuman. It is located at 20km distance from Trambakeshwar Nashik and became one of the tourist spot for traveller. It is one of the best attraction of Nashik city in Maharashtra region. Anjneri the name came after Hanumans mother Anjani.

HOW TO GET THERE

TO REACH Anjneri Hill Nashik is the main trunk rail route of Mumbai from other cities and states of India. Most of trains stops at Nashik road railway station.

One can reach by road to Nashik from Mumbai which is just 166km. There are frequent MSRTC buses that runs between Mumbai Nashik in a day. Regular cabs are also available from Dadar to Nashik.

From central bus stand of Nashik you may get direct bus to Trambakeshwar which haults at Anjneri phata  on Nashik-Trambak road. Cabs and rickshaws are also available.

So starting with my story Anjneri Hill was in the bucket list of must visit place and already heared so much about this place. We made plan  to trek this mountain in Nashik, and decided to left on Saturday night so that we can arrive early morning. This plan turned in to reality,  along with my 2 friends caught an express train from Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Mumbai on Saturday night  at 11:15pm ,being sudden plan we couldn't book ticket before but being desire to travel we still somehow managed to reach there in general compartment as it was just 3hours journey from Mumbai. We reached Nashik road station at around 2:30am midnight. It was bit crowded outside of station though it was night time, there were small small tea stall, omlet pav stalls. we went to one of this small tapari and had tea with bun maska as it was so cold in night, being February month. We had no idea about buses service at midnight, nor any idea about trek but yea we believe the best  of journeys are the ones that are unplanned. With this thought we decided to  take help of local people to reach our destination. They guided us to reach Nashik Bus stand first and then another bus to Anjneri phata. To reach  Anjneri village you first need to catch Trambakeshwar bus that leaves you to Anjneri phata which is the entrance of Anjneri trek.We took bus as guided by them from Nashik bus stand towards Trambak road. It is only 20km distance to reach Anjneri phata from Nashik bus stand. We changed three vehicle in a day, after such an hectic travling finally we arrived Anjneri phata at 4:30am in morning. Our eyes were swollen a bit due to lack of sleep in travling  but yes desire helped us to recover our eyes as we were reaching near to destination. somehow we started walk towards the  destination and started moving further to base village in night. It was so adventurous to walk in the night also was so excited as the night walk is where you see most of the stars in sky. It was complete dark without any light apart from moon light to walk where you can just listen noise of fire flies. As we started walking towards our destination our energy was regaining again with the calories of environment.

after 15min walk we reached base village that welcomes the traveler to Anjneri.

After driving from Nashik bus stand to Trambak road this board lies at left side of main road and also It is the entrance from Anjneri phata to Anjneri village.

It took us 20min to reach base village called Anjneri from main road (Anjneri phata). The name of this village came from mata Anjani.

This is the entrance point from Anjneri village where you cross two Pinnacles called 'Navra' and 'Navri' to reach starting trek point of Anjneri Hill.

The moment we started to trek we were feeling hungry, but there was no option available at night apart from what we had in our bag. we had some snacks and energy bar in bag that helped us to maintain energy throughout the trek. we decided to take 15min small break before we start with small pinnacle trek and we rested at base village for our snacks break.

We started treking towards main entrance of Anjneri Hill, starting trail is just simple as its just walk through plain surface that takes you to steep stairs point which is starting path of trek. Before starting of this steep stairs there is small canteen but it was close in our time. To reach here  the distance was  not less than half hour that goes through small pinacles mountain and it is named as 'Navra' and 'Navri'.

We decided to reach early on top  just to  see handsomeness of sun rise. We started putting pressure on legs to move bit faster. after crossing the stairs we come across the narrow path of the stairs with full of stones on right side and valley on left side that seems bit dangerous, where this valley was filled with lust greenaries.

After crossing this stone path there was another rocky path that goes  through the mountain on both side and was looking like this.

Road filled with rocks and mountain on both side

On this rocky path of the mountain there was small caves on left side. Entrance of this caves was so  narrow with steep small stairs to enter inside.Be careful while going in caves due to narrow road.  The road till this caves was with only stairs that looks like zig zag path. At night we couldn't witness the beauty as it was so dark at that time.

We again took small break of 10min to drink water as body was dehydrated.being long walk in night our body was still supporting well though we had traveled throughout night.after trek of 1.5 hrs we reached at first temple which is Anjneri mata (mother of Lord Hanuman)

Temple of Anjneri mata with childhood statue of Lord Hanuman.(photo taken while returning back)

THIS TEMPLE IS OF ANJNERI MATA MOTHER OF LORD HANUMAN. This is the only temple of Anjani mata in the world. You may find Lord Hanumans childhoods statue with mata Anjani. After break of 10min we again started trekking towards peak. There are again some small stairs to ascend. After walking for another 20min we found one lake which is of foot shape. This lake was clearly visible from top of the mountain.

Back side is the foot mark of Lord Hanuman when he placed his foot at this ground and It became lake of foot print

It is said that Lord Hanuman has kept his foot on this place then after it became foot shape lake.

Our distance towards peak was not more than half hour. As the sky started turning into pink we witnessed colorful view at the lake  near Anjneri mata temple. We took hault of 10 min to click beauty of this nature under moon light.

The lake view of morning with moon light. beauty captured early morning at 6am while ascending to top.

The real beauty of the place can be seen when there is no electricity and bonfire around as the place is dimly visible with the light of moon. We again started putting pressure on our legs to move a bit fast as sun had already started painting sky, we actually wear so excited to witness sun rise.It is said that more nature hugs are given to you when you witness the sun rising,  As  we  started reaching on top the scene was mesmerizing and helped us to regain all our energy. At last we reached on top of peak where we got so touched up with sweet morning air and breath taking view of surrounding from height, and how this cloud floats. Slowly sun started painting the sky with pinks. And we started taking deep breath just to feel our beats. We captured some of the breath taking views in phon.

After witnessing such an amazing beauty we moved further to see temple of Lord Hanuman.

This peak was the end point of this trek where Lord Hanuman temple is situated. At top there is vast surface and there is one small canteen next to temple where you may get some biscuits, cheeps, tea and water. We took rest for almost 2-3 hours to enjoy the scenic beauty of Lord Hanumans birth place and enjoyed  tea biscuit as we were feeling hungry.one of our group mate slept there as he was tired and never done such adventurous night trek before. I noticed why we took such a long break at peak, just to think many youngsters like me introduced to the art of treking at young age, so need to think next travel destinations looking towards surrounding mountains from one of the destination.

TEMPLE OF LORD HANUMAN AT PEAK OF ANJNERI MOUNTAIN

After reaching at peak I realize everyone wants to stay on mountain but happiness comes from climbing it to the peak.
I took my shoes off and sat for sometime, we were roaming around temple where our foots went to back side of temple and trust it felt so amazing to witness the epic beauty with wind of surrounding mountains and got engaged to click pretty photos of nearby hills. while ascending we could not click much of the photos as we started early in morning where light was just passing through our phon and torch that we had. If you want to witness what is the mountain is then  you must visit this trek as it is easy for beginners also. After this fruitful journey we started our back to where we started.

To descend down from any trek is easy as you know Gravity! Being no time boundaries we had enough time to take more memories with us. Here we come up to the end of this trek which overall was amazingly enchanting.

Mostly consisting gradual ups and downs, the trail is not challenging for experience trekkers. There is also a space if anyone wants to pitch own tent at peak point. If you are visiting Nashik then this should be a part of your bucket list.

Level of this trek is easy for any beginners.

Time required is not more than 3hours for new trekker.
