I started my journey from Mumbai, took a train from LTT. My biggest regret was taking AC compartment. I strongly recommend you to take a non AC bogey, so that you can enjoy the heavenly scenery and the cool breeze. The best time to visit Igatpuri is during rainy season, but do remember to book your rooms atleast a week prior, as the rates during this period are extremely high, I ended up paying 15k for one room in Manas Resort. You can just walk around the small hill station and chill, don't forget the bonfire. It was the best part of the whole trip.
Second day, early morning, I visited the famous meditation center. The peacefulness and tranquility is outstanding. Please do visit and meditate and introspect. There are a few nearby places you can visit, like elephant falls, dam, malshej ghat. You can cover all the places in a day. It'll be totally worth it. Don't forget to eat the vadapav with hot chai. Also a special place for Chai lovers is a small dhaba at the end of malshej ghat. The scenery with hot tea. Just a wonderful feeling. Now get back to your hotel and chill.
The third day of my trip. I woke up pretty late, as I was all exhausted the day earlier. I had a good breakfast and headed for the railway station to board my train. But what you could do is wake up early and go on a walk, climb some small hill and enjoy the sunrise. I have shared photos of my train journey and the waterfall and some more of scenery.
