A starting point for newbies from Pune, you’ll find lovely views around Khadakvasla Lake on your way there. The hill-climb to Sinhagad can be a little tricky given the often-broken terrain, but be assured that you’ll be rewarded with some great local fare like the zunka bhakar and the gavran chicken curry that is definitely worth trying.

There are 2 routes to reach Sinhagad from Pune. The shorter one includes traveling via NH4. One has to head west towards Shivaji Road from Pune, continue onto Shivaji Road and then drive from Chandrashekhar Govind Aapte Road to Narayan Peth. After that, take Narveer Tanaji Malusare Road/Sinhagad Road, NH4 and Khed Shivapur-Kondanpur Road to Sinhagad Ghat Road in Ghera Sinhagad. The other route involves driving via Katraj Ghat Road.

Tamhini Ghat just beyond the Mulshi Dam. Though the roads through this ghat are at best bad, the scenery around would make you forget the bumpiness of the ride. A ride through this ghat is good even during the summer. But, this place opens up in the rains. Waterfalls all around, greens of the like rarely seen, you have to go there to experience this.

The road was quite bad for a large part of the journey and was almost non-existent at some places. The view started getting increasingly good, with towering mountains crowned with thick clouds and lush greenery all around with just the right amount of mist, to make it look beautiful without obscuring things.
