Day 1

temple is Nilkanteshwarnestled on the top of a small hill between Khadakwasla and Panshet dam. Distance is around 40kms from Pune station. It is the ideal place to experience nature as well as mythology. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Although it’s a Shiva temple, it also has many different statues on the premises. They’re of various Hindu gods and goddesses and scenes from Hindu mythology..

Temple timings is from 9 am to 6 pm.Parking charges are 10rs for two wheeler and 20rs for four wheeler.

Roadcondition is almost good .Around 1 to 1.5 km is in bad condition.

From parking temple distance is around 2 kms and it will take around 30 mins by walk as road is steep and one gets tired .Carry energy drink,water and food along with you.One more thing prefer to go in morning hours or evening hours and best season to visit is monsoon or winter.One can enjoy nature by trekking.On Sunday and Monday tractor option is available from parking to temple.Charges are 50 rs per person one side.

At the entrance of temple there are 2 big idols.Few steps climbing the stairs one can see huge statue of Lord Hanuman.After moving ahead there is a big statue of lord Shiva ,ashtaganapati and saints.

At the main entrance of temple there are few stairs , climbing them will lead to a hall where lot of statues of God and saints are there.Moving ahead will lead to another hall where there is statue of lord Shiva and paravati and moving ahead will lead to garbhagriha in which lord Shiva beautiful shivalinga is there.

After coming out of this temple another path leads to a large open area where idols of many dieties have been made.Most of the sculptures are based on ramayana and mahabharata.There are more than 1200 idols built in the entire temple premises.Every year painting work is done for maintenance of idols. These idols look alive and very beautiful to see.

One can enjoy the beauty of nature from top.Khadakwasla ,panshet and warasgaon dam backwater view can be seen.

Canteen is available but only snacks are provided.So kindly carry food along with you.It is the best one day picnic spot to enjoy nature with family and friends.
