During monsoons the area around Mumbai is renewed with life as the hills are once again covered with lush green vegetation and numerous waterfalls make their way through these hills and sometimes onto the roads adjacent to these hills. One such place is Malshejghat, around 80 kms from Kalyan (suburb of Mumbai) in Thane district. Malshejghat, situated on Kalyan-Ahmednagar NH 222, can be reached by driving along Kalyan-Murbad road. Once there, get off the vehicle and enjoy bathing, playing in numerous waterfalls that are just along the highway, with one falling particularly in the middle of the road from the cliff.
One can rest a while or stay overnight at MTDC (Maharashtra tourism development corporation) resort built on the cliff and can also enjoy panoramic view of the deep valley and surrounding hills. One particular thing to experience at the MTDC resort viewpoint is "water reverse". Here the water droplets, from deep down in the valleys, is carried up by strong wind currents and is showered on people standing there, thus giving them an illusion of rain.
