Shuvrodeep (my boyfriend) and I were on our way returning from Goa, from our #biketrip. We had stayed the last night in Kolhapur. While we were leaving from Kolhapur in the morning, we changed our initial plan of going back to Mumbai, as we had 3 more days of our vacation left. We instead thought of spending a day somewhere like Wai or Kaas, in Satara. We are always excited for our last minute plans.
We started at 12pm and took straight NH48, after a couple of breaks in between, we reached Wai at around 3pm. We wanted to stay around nature, and luckily got a booking in a resort near Dhom Lake(seemed interesting on map), and after reaching the beautiful Dhom Lake, we were beyond excited. We also spotted a good location for photographing with KTM 390Adv, which we decided to come post lunch. After riding through a small patch of off-road we were at our resort location. And guess what? there were no signs of resort, not even a single person.
Whhhat? Why this kolaveri D?
With broken heart we took a U-turn to check other options nearby. With the help of a local there, we checked a resort, but they were charging bomb for no reason. We quickly had to take a U-turn with a heavy heart, as the sun was going down already and we were yet to lock a stay option for that very night. My phone's battery was also dying.
Nevertheless, we headed towards Panchgani which was an hour ride from there and also safest option as per the situation. On our way I booked a room through booking.com. We reached the location quite in time, but got to know that they were already full, and couldn't take our booking. Another disappointment of the day.
Then Shuvrodeep suggested we go for traditional way of hunting for a room. Fortunately we checked-in in a hotel near Mapro Garden just in no time.
We had not eaten anything since morning, as we were expecting it to be quite a short ride of around 150km and then this series of events happened to us on the very last day of 2020.
Nevertheless, we quickly freshened up, and had the most fulfilling meal of the day and slept bidding goodbye to 2020.

So, we woke up around mountains, and this is how we welcomed 2021.
We had agreed to extend for a day if given a room with mountain view, and the manager was kind enough to make it happen for us. We loved the view from this new room. Enjoyed the view for a while and left for checking out some places nearby.
While riding through some unknown roads we reached dead end of huge Venna Lake. Also, the sky was extremely dramatic that day, which serves as an interesting element for photography. We photographed each other, Shuvrodeep clicked a lot of my pictures. He also shot videos where he talked about modifications he has done on his bike. We also took our selfie on GoPro which turned out pretty cool. We spent some time there and then had food while returning back to hotel.
That's pretty much how our 1st day of the year went.
