किस्से सफ़र के
March 2020- My last trip before lockdown to Mcleodganj and the first one where I was happy to lose my phone. This place has mentally, physically and emotionally given and taken a lot from me. No language can express how much I'm in love with this beauty. I don't know how but everytime I come, the air here hugs me tight and says "I missed you"
And why this photo signifies another kissa safar ka? Here it goes..
I had chicken momos at this cafe back in March'20 and couldn't ever recall the name of this place. I just had an image stuck in my mind about this cafe with orange walls, mirror on the left, a small place on a narrow street with this book case, and a pahadi lady serving delicious momos.
For the next three times that I came here, I spent hours roaming at Mcleod square to find this spot and always went back with a dissatisfied result.
This time finally I decided no matter what, even if it takes the whole day, I need to eat those momos. My friend went to every cafe in Mcleod Square with me. I stood inside each cafe for a while, tried to reconcile the image I had in mind and said "No, it's not this!". This continued for one hour.
Finally the last cafe in the lane was where I had all my hopes on. I entered the shop and that was it! I shouted to Kanav "yahi hai! mil gaya! YES". To be doubly sure, I narrated the whole story to an old uncle serving there and asked for one plate as a tester. Till my order came, Kanav could see how I couldn't contain my excitement and when I had the first bite, I knew it - The quest to searching my favourite momos in Mcleodganj has FINALLY ended.
In a flick, I told uncle - "Yes, this is it! can you make a table for 17?" and shared the location on our whatsapp group immediately.
Now there may be better momos in Mcleodganj, I won't deny. But who wants the best when you already have your favourite, right?
