Day 1

Meghalaya the original beauty and the most sacred landscapes i have ever seen. Badal pe pav h .. yes this happens in real..!! We started with our trip on 31st August and we landed at Guwahati airport in the morning. we have planned this through Souvenir Solutions and Dipankar ji was really helping in making this trip perfect for us. Our driver Zakir bhai made sure that we should know every thing about this place. On our day one we have travelled from Guwahati to Shilong and visited few of the local places like Don Bosco cultural museum which i will suggest everyone to visit as it is very knowledgeable to understand the real culture of north east. Than we have visited Umiam Lake which is very serene and we are blessed with the perfect weather.

We have stayed at OYO property and is suitable for a low budget trip.

Day 2

Day 2 starts with our journey from Shilong to Dawki village and it is almost 3 hour journey including our snacks at one of the local cafe and as we are blessed we got to see clear sky and because of this we can see all the landscapes in between very clearly and trust me it’s worth having a look on such lush green and serene landscapes. Dawki is famous for the cleanest river in Asia and yes it’s worth visiting..the colorful boats all around the river and the fisherman’s they just complete the view. The river is so clear that you can see pebbles and your foot in the water. The blue and green river ..anyone can fall in love with.

The same day we have covered Single Living Root Bridge where we have to walk little bit but it’s quite and tranquil so again don’t miss this place and just sit to the opposite side from where everyone goes, it’s more beautiful there. The next stop was Mawlynnong village which is the most cleanest village in Asia..we have talked to many local people there and found our little friend HipHip a very cute and naughty kid. This day ends with our stay at Cherapunji at Kutmadan Resort which is not though very great but yes is reasonable and is good at stay.

Day 3

Third day was more relaxed than day 2 as it was mainly for local sight seeing of Cherrapunjee. So we have decided to start our day by witnessing sunrise in Cherrapunjee and it was special and worth..if you want to observe various colors of sky and just want to feel that moment .. morning 5:15 perfect timings for you to wake up and to have your me time. We started our day tour from Seven Sister falls which though was very cloudy so not visible much but than we got the clear view of clouds and the flow of winds. After depending 15 minutes there Mawsyami caves again the adventurous part of trip but it’s fun out there and is interesting to see. Than we went to the most largest straight water falls of world that is Naukalaki falls and again we were disappointed as due to clouds it was not visible so we have decided to try Ziplining but it started raining at that time and we had hard luck at that time so we have decided to cover Arwah caves and Wah Kaba falls at that time. I will suggest Arwah caves should be visited but not much impressed by Wah kaba falls so if you are running short of time it can be skipped. But as Naukalakai falls were one of the highlight for our trip we decided to go there again when the whether got clear and we were lucky enough to see sunset at that point. For Cherrapunjee i will suggest Orange Roots and Ziva as your food break points if you are vegetarians.

Day 4

Fourth day where we need to be back to Shilong and on the way we have covered Mawphalong Forest which is worlds most largest sacred forest and is protected by local deyties.. it’s a saying that you can’t take anything out of the forest otherwise deyti gets angry and they have various stories proving the same. The forest has a different vibe and we need to follow all their rules strictly but again that was a must visit place for all. We have our guide Ba Born and he is a very nice man and very great photographer... he took us to the tour of forest and charged us 300 rs as guide fees .. it’s also famous that the forest is a holy place and you can pray there. Post that we went to Elephant falls which is on the way only so you should spend some time here. Than we had our lunch at ML05 cafe a very nice cafe and friendly staff with a perfect location. We reached to our hotel Cafe Shilong B&B and had some rest there. I will suggest you to try Veg momos of Family hut cafe again a cafe of Ziva chain at police bazaar Shilong.

Day 5 is just our return day so we just had our brunch at Shilong peak and than rushed to Guwahati airport and now it was the time to accept the reality of life and to get back to your normal routine.

Don’t miss Meghalaya ..it is a must visit trip.. don’t miss pineapples here ..don’t miss momos .. ziva a must visit cafe .. and the clouds ,the wind, the road, and the lush green landscapes everything is apple

to your eyes and music to your soul.
